India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill held a press conference on the eve of the first ODI against England, in which he answered all the questions ranging from Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli to the 2027 ODI World Cup. Gill told that he talked to Virat Kohli regarding the upcoming ODI World Cup. So let us know which issues Gill talked about in the press conference and what answers he gave.

Talk to Virat Kohli for ODI World Cup

Gill said in the press conference, “We were talking about combinations. Which combination would be best for us, which are the players who are not in the team now but can help us in the future, which bowlers, which all-rounders, which spinners – we were talking about all these things.”

Gill was asked whether the England ODI series would play an important role in their preparation for the World Cup? Responding to this, Gill said, “Our preparation for the ODI World Cup is different. Our aim is to see what kind of combinations we can try. The wickets we get in South Africa will be very similar to the wickets we get here, so this series is very important for us.”

T20 series defeat will not affect

Gill was asked whether India’s defeat in the T20 series will affect the ODI series as well? In response, Gill said, “I don’t think it will make any difference. It is a different format, different team and different goal. It is a different environment and it will be a different feeling.”

Core team ready for World Cup

Gill believes that the core team is already ready for the upcoming World Cup, but he stressed that the team management wants to increase the pool of players before the World Cup.

Gill said, “I don’t think there is anything to worry about. It is not that we have a scattered 11. But you have to give a chance to new players. The more experience they gain in pressure situations and the better they perform, the better it will be for us before the World Cup.”

What did you say about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli?

Talking about the legendary batsmen, Shubman Gill said, “Virat bhai and Rohit bhai have been the backbone of India’s batting lineup for the last decade. They have been an integral part of the team. The experience and skill they have is really valuable.”
