After the assembly elections in West Bengal, politics has once again heated up. TMC leaders Shashi Panja and Kunal Ghosh are sitting on dharna in front of the strong room outside Netaji Indoor Stadium. He alleged that BJP and ECI officials were trying to open ballot boxes without the presence of the respective party representatives.
TMC accused of opening ballot box
Kunal Ghosh said, ‘You can see in the livestreaming and CCTV cameras of the Election Commission that some people are working inside. None of our representatives are inside…they are not letting us go inside. They are asking us to talk to other candidates. Why should we take responsibility of other candidates? Shashi Panja said, ‘We are worried. There should be no manipulation. Why are we not being shown all this?’
TMC released CCTV video
The TMC leader claimed that he suspects that the party workers deployed for guarding outside the EVM strong-room have been deliberately removed by the central forces, so that some nefarious conspiracy could be hatched inside the strong-room to tamper with the EVMs. He also claimed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) should be more transparent and inform everyone about what is going on inside the strong-room.

Mamta Banerjee expressed fear of EVM tampering
TMC’s protest in front of the EVM strong-room began just hours after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee released a video message. In that message, Mamata Banerjee had expressed the fear of EVM tampering and had called upon party workers and leaders to guard the strong room. She also said that she will take to the streets and guard the strong room until the counting of votes begins on the morning of May 4.
According to Ghosh, this time the Trinamool Congress candidate from Beliaghata Assembly seat in North Kolkata, Trinamool Congress workers were present in front of the strong-room located at Khudiram Anushilan Center till 3:30 pm.
TMC’s big allegation on the Election Commission
Ghosh further said, ‘Central forces removed them from there in the afternoon. Meanwhile, suddenly an email was sent to me informing me that the strong-room would be reopened at 4.00 pm. Then we contacted party workers on phone. We asked him if he was still present there. He told that he has left from there. Then both of us immediately left for that place. Now they are not allowing us to go inside, while they are inviting BJP people inside.
Shashi Panja said that the issue of guarding the strong room is very sensitive in this election. He raised the question that if the strong-room was opened, then why was every political party not informed about it?
