Bank of Baroda Data Leak News: Bank of Baroda (BoB) has become the victim of a major cyber attack. According to media reports, a hacker has claimed to have leaked about 1TB (terabyte) of sensitive bank data on the dark web for free. The hacker says that he has stolen about 1TB of data from the bank’s server and put it online, from where anyone can download and analyze it. This alleged data dump includes customer records, banking information, internal documents, audit reports and compliance records.
However, till the time of writing this news, no official confirmation has been made yet by Bank of Baroda, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). If the data is indeed genuine, it may put customers at risk of phishing attacks, identity theft and financial fraud.
What is included in the leaked data?
According to the links posted on the dark web, the 1TB data includes a lot of information about different bank branches across the country:-
- Personal details like customer name, mobile number and Aadhar card number.
- Savings and current account details, netbanking user information.
- Loan documents, NRI banking records and corporate banking related files of customers.
- Bank’s internal audit, branch vigilance checks and audit reports linked to the bank app.
In simple terms, if you are a Bank of Baroda customer, your account information mentioned above may be present in the 1TB of data that is available for download and this information is linked to your identity and name.

- Change your internet banking and mobile banking login ID and password immediately.
- Since hackers have also claimed to have leaked the Aadhaar number, lock your Aadhaar biometrics by visiting the official website of UIDAI or mAadhaar app. This will prevent your Aadhaar from being misused.
- Do not trust any suspicious call, SMS or email in which the person claiming to be a bank employee.
- Keep checking your bank account statements from time to time so that you can immediately identify any suspicious activity.
