New IPL Rule Benched Players: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a new rule for the Indian Premier League. According to the new rules, players sitting on the bench will not be able to roam around the field during an IPL match. Only those 16 players who are included in the team sheet before the match will be allowed to move around the field.
According to Cricbuzz, only those 16 players who are included in the team sheet by the management will be able to enter the field. BCCI and IPL management have informed the team managers that players who are not in the list of 16 players cannot enter the field during the drinks break. Even if there is a need to give a bat or give a message, bench players will not be allowed to come on the field during the match.
issued strange rules
During matches, players often wear yellow or green sleeveless jerseys (bibs) in the dugout. BCCI says that more than 5 players wearing bibs will not be allowed to sit or stand near the boundary. These 5 players can be selected from the nominated 16 or even from the entire squad.
According to clause 11.5.2 of the playing conditions, a player playing in the match can be given a drink only when he is standing near the boundary or when a wicket has fallen. The team management should keep in mind that the time of the players or the team is not wasted while serving drinks.
Umpire’s permission required
Drinks will not be allowed on the field without the permission of the umpires. Any player who brings drinks to the field will have to come in team attire. The players who are not included in the 16-member team sheet will not be able to roam near the boundary line and LED board.
