Salt Lake Stadium Football Sculpture: A controversial statue outside Kolkata’s famous Salt Lake Stadium has been razed to the ground. This statue had two legs cut off from the torso and a football built on them. This statue became the identity of this stadium and the football craze in Bengal. It was designed by former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself. After BJP came to power, Shuvendu government has taken big action. The opinion of the people of Bengal was divided regarding this statue. Many called this statue good, while others called it an ugly statue. The action has been taken after the statement of removal of Minister Nishid Pramanik.
Questions were raised on the strange design of the statue
Lionel Messi’s match took place in this stadium. It was installed in the stadium just before the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The logo of Biswa Bangla was also made on it. Ever since this statue was unveiled, it was surrounded by controversies. Many football fans had raised questions on its strange design. Many famous football matches between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have taken place in this stadium. Many international players participated here.

At the same time, after this action, BJP leader Keya Ghosh posted and wrote, Do you remember that ugly statue built in front of Salt Lake Stadium? Now as per his promise, it has been removed.
Encroachment action in Asansol also
Earlier, after taking oath as CM, Subhendu Adhikari had said that this statue will be removed. This week, Nishid Pramanik had also reiterated the call for action. Apart from this, SAIL-ISP management in Asansol, West Bengal has started encroachment action near Burnpur station. Under this, many party offices and club buildings including the office of Ward 78 Trinamool Congress councilor Ashok Rudra have been demolished.
