LPG News: The impact of the war between Iran and the US was seen all over the world. After which the prices of crude oil increased. The supply of gas was also affected to a great extent. The prices of gas had also increased and people were facing shortage of it. Due to which people reduced the consumption of LPG in the first half of this year i.e. from January 2026 to June 2026.
How much has LPG supply decreased?
In fact, recently a report of Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) has come out, in which it has been told how much LPG has been consumed in the first six months of the year 2026. According to this report, LPG consumption in India has decreased by 8% during the war. According to the data mentioned in the report, about 1.47 crore tonnes of LPG was consumed in India during January-June 2026, whereas it was 1.59 crore tonnes in the same period last year.

Why did LPG consumption decrease?
Regarding the reduction in LPG consumption, the government says that the demand for LPG has not decreased, rather the consumption has decreased due to the supply being affected. India imports about 60% of its total LPG requirement and about 90% of this LPG comes from the Gulf countries of the Middle East. It mostly reaches India through the Strait of Hormuz. During the war, supplies were disrupted due to this route being affected.
Know the consumption of May-June
The impact of supply disruption was most visible in May, when LPG consumption was around 21.3 lakh tonnes, which was the lowest level in the last five years. So in June, LPG consumption was about 17% less as compared to last year, but compared to May, it registered an increase of more than 2%.

Now supply is normal
Now the Petroleum Ministry has said that 100% supply of domestic LPG, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and CNG has been restored across the country. The supply of commercial LPG, which was reduced to give priority to domestic consumers during the crisis, has also returned to the same place. Online gas booking has reached normal levels and there is no shortage of stock at any gas agency.
