A permanent peace can now be agreed upon amidst the military tension that has been going on for months between America and Iran. According to Reuters report, US-Iran talks brokered by Pakistan have come close to a draft agreement to end the war. According to the draft, the fighting will be stopped, Iran’s nuclear enrichment will be stopped under strict monitoring. Apart from this, some restrictions imposed by America will be relaxed and the movement of ships in Hormuz will resume.
Agreement can be reached in the next 48 hours
Iran is expected to respond within 48 hours, but no agreement has been signed yet. America expects Tehran’s response on several major issues within the next 48 hours. On behalf of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are negotiating a 14-point draft with Iranian officials. If talks are not successful, Washington could reimpose the blockade or resume military action.
Iran’s condition regarding peace agreement
Iran on Wednesday (6 May 2026) said it would accept a peace deal only if it is fair, after Trump halted a three-day naval operation aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz. A US delegation led by US Vice President JD Vance along with Kushner and Witkoff held talks with Iranian officials in Islamabad on 11–12 April 2026, but the 21-hour talks ended without any conclusion.
America bans Project Freedom
US President Donald Trump has stopped ‘Project Freedom’ to safely remove ships from the Strait of Hormuz and claimed that progress has been made in talks towards an agreement to end the war with Iran. “Major progress has been made toward a full and final agreement with representatives of Iran,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on May 5.
Based on the requests of Pakistan and other countries, the tremendous military success achieved during the campaign against Iran, and the significant progress made towards a final agreement with the representatives of Iran, we have mutually decided that the blockade will remain in full force but Project Freedom will be put on hold for a short period.
