Early Warning Signs Of Brain Tumor: Headache is such a problem that almost every person suffers from at some time or the other. In most cases, this is due to common conditions like stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, watching screens for long periods of time or fatigue. It can also be cured by taking some rest, adequate water and taking medicine if needed. But when the headache starts returning again and again, feels different from before or some unusual symptoms appear along with it, then it is not right to ignore it.

Symptoms of this serious disease can be

Often people believe that the first sign of brain tumor is unbearable headache, but the reality is different from this. Sometimes the initial symptoms are so common that people mistake them for stress, aging or work pressure. This is the reason why there is a delay in detecting the disease. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the symptoms of a brain tumor depend on its size, location and speed of growth. Apart from headache, changes in memory, weak eyesight, change in behaviour, seizures and loss of balance can also be its signs.

How does brain tumor start?

Dr Ujjwal Yeole told TOI that it is a big misconception that brain tumor always starts with headache. Many patients initially experience weakening of memory, difficulty concentrating or changes in behaviour. Some people start having difficulty speaking, while some people start having blurred vision. Since each part of the brain controls different functions, the effect of the tumor is also visible accordingly.

When should you go to the doctor?

According to Dr. Ujjwal Yeole, every headache is not a matter of concern, but if the pain is increasing continuously, occurs repeatedly, wakes you up from sleep or feels different than before, then you should consult a doctor. Especially if vomiting, blurred vision, weakness, confusion or other neurological symptoms are also present along with it, then it becomes necessary to get tested. Research from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke also suggests that headaches associated with serious neurological problems may increase over time and may be accompanied by other symptoms.

What are its symptoms?

There are some signs of brain tumor which family members recognize before the patient. Sudden increase in irritability, change in the way of talking, staying away from social activities or repeatedly forgetting things can be such signs which people often ignore considering it to be mental stress. Similarly, blurred or double vision, loss of balance while walking, feeling weakness in hands and legs or difficulty in finding the right words can also be warning signs. Currently, there is no sure way to completely prevent brain tumors. However, the most important step is to recognize the symptoms in time and get tested.
