A large military complex is being rapidly constructed in a remote desert area of China, due to which security experts have become increasingly concerned. On the basis of satellite images, it is being claimed that this entire structure is being built to further strengthen China’s nuclear capability, so that it will be able to take retaliatory action even in the event of an attack. According to reports, two large octagon-shaped military complexes have been built in the eastern Xinjiang region. Hundreds of concrete launch pads are being prepared around them. It is believed that they can be used for mobile missile launchers, air defense systems, electronic warfare and satellite communication systems.
Accommodation for soldiers, sheds for large vehicles, weapons storage bunkers and command centers are also being built within these complexes. Nearby facilities like roads, railway lines, airfields and fuel storage are also visible in the satellite image. In recent months, movement of large military vehicles and exercises have also been seen here. China’s nuclear policy is still based on “No First Use”, but experts say that this entire network is being built to strengthen China’s second strike capability, so that even if it is attacked, it can launch a retaliatory nuclear attack.

What will be the number of nuclear weapons in China in 2030?
According to a Pentagon report, China can increase the number of its nuclear weapons to 1000 by 2030. Along with this, apart from silo-based missiles, China is also working rapidly on mobile launchers and submarine-launched missiles. Tension has already increased between America and China regarding Taiwan. In such a situation, this step of China is further intensifying the nuclear competition between the two countries. Security experts say that this construction shows a major change in China’s strategic capability. American expert Hans Christensen has called it an extraordinary effort. Other experts believe that this entire system will further strengthen China’s Command, Control and Communication (C3) capability.
Important situation for India too
This situation is also considered important for India, because China’s rapidly increasing military and nuclear capability can affect the regional security balance. India is already strengthening its long-range missile capability, but China’s speed is being considered a strategic challenge. This entire construction is not just a military structure, but is being considered as a major preparation to further strengthen China’s nuclear strategy, so that its counter-attack capability can be made more secure.
