DA Hike Implemented by Govt: 60% dearness allowance of central employees has come into effect from today. The Central Government has issued its orders. This dearness allowance will be considered applicable from January 1, 2026. Two days ago, the government had announced a two percent increase in the dearness allowance of central employees.
Earlier dearness allowance was 58 percent. Central employees were demanding to increase it for a long time. However, this time the increase in dearness allowance has been announced very late. This increase will have a direct impact on the salaries of the employees. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 50,000, then he will get approximately Rs 1000 extra every month.

Employees will get relief
This increase is considered to provide some relief to the income of government employees amid rising inflation. This 2 percent increase is part of the government’s routine biennial. Through which the government protects the real income of the employees and does not allow the impact of rising inflation to become a burden on them. Revised Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid along with arrears from January 2026, which will benefit lakhs of central government employees and pensioners.
It is written in the memorandum…
In this memorandum issued by the Finance Ministry, it is clearly written that Dearness Allowance (DA) will remain a separate component of wages and it will not be considered a part of salary within the scope of fundamental rules. This difference is important to calculate different allowances and retirement benefits.
The revised DA rates will be applicable not only to civilian employees of the Central Government, but also to those drawing salaries from Defense Services estimates. However, separate orders for armed forces personnel and railway employees are expected to be issued by the Defense Ministry and Railway Ministry respectively.
