The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday (June 18) has announced a 15-member squad for the one-off historic Test against the Indian women’s team. The only Test between India and England women’s teams will be played at Lord’s in London from July 10, for which Nat Siver-Brunt has been made the captain of the English team, who will take command of the team for the first time in the format. This will be the first Test of the English women’s team at Lord’s.
Alice Capsey, Tilly Courteen-Coleman and Mady Villiers, who have played in the limited overs format, can play their first match for England in Test cricket, while the rest of the team members Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld have not played any match for their country yet. Therefore, 5 players can debut through the match.
Let us tell you that despite suffering a calf injury again during the T20 World Cup, Sciver-Brunt has been given the captaincy of the team and she is going to play her 13th Test match. The team’s player who has played the most Test matches is Heather Knight, who will play her 15th match in this format.
Managing Director of England Women’s Cricket, Claire Connor believes that this is an exciting time for women’s cricket in the country and history is soon going to be created.
Claire Connor said, “We have selected a strong Test team under the captaincy of Nat Siver-Brunt, who will witness some more historic days for women’s cricket at Lord’s. Test cricket is a rare and extremely challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format.”
