Exclusive: ‘Lies are being spread on ethanol’, Gadkari said – I will file a defamation case against those who give wrong figures on his son’s company

Nitin Gadkari LIVE Exclusive Interview: Amid the ongoing debate in the country regarding Ethanol Blended Fuel, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made many big claims. He clearly said that people are being misled on social media regarding ethanol and false propaganda is being spread against them. He also took a tough stand on the claims made by his son Nikhil Gadkari regarding his company and warned of a defamation case.

On the questions being raised regarding ethanol, he said that in cities the mileage of ethanol mixed petrol is equal to that of normal petrol. However, he also admitted that there may be some reduction in mileage on the highway, because the calorific value of ethanol is lower than petrol. He appealed to the people not to form any opinion without facts.

Gadkari said, “The figures being given regarding the income and profits of my son Nikhil Gadkari’s company are completely wrong. Wherever you have taken these figures, even from Google, if they are repeated, I will file a defamation case and take it to court.”

He said that “Self-reliant India” was the dream of Mahatma Gandhi and taking forward the same thinking, the government is working on reducing imports and promoting indigenous options. He said that the biggest objective of this campaign is to make villages and farmers economically strong.

Company’s responsibility during the guarantee period

Gadkari assured that if ethanol causes any damage to any vehicle during the guarantee period, the responsibility will be on the dealer and the company. He said, “If there is any loss, the company will repair it. If consumers are not satisfied, they can also take the case to the consumer court.”

He said that till now he has not received any official complaint related to ethanol. 53 videos have definitely surfaced on social media, but many misleading information have been spread in them. He told people that if anyone has a complaint then send it to the ministry’s website. “I will investigate the complaints myself,” he said.

Ethanol was introduced to reduce pollution

Gadkari described ethanol as not just a fuel but a matter of national interest. He said that this initiative is an important step towards reducing pollution, reducing dependence on crude oil imports and making the country self-reliant. According to him, “The issue of ethanol is related to national interest. Swadeshi, self-reliance and nationalism are its mantras.”

On the issue of pollution, Gadkari clearly said, “Our aim is to make the country pollution free. Ethanol does not cause any pollution.” He called it an important step towards clean energy and green future.

During this he also mentioned the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Gadkari admitted that the work of the drainage system on the expressway has not been completely completed yet. For this reason, problems of water logging and potholes have emerged in some parts during the rains.

At the end of his address, Gadkari reiterated that the initiatives being taken in the national interest should not be made the subject of political or misleading propaganda. He said that the discussion should be based on facts, because ethanol, self-reliant India and prosperity of farmers are interrelated issues.
