Petrol-Diesel Rate Today: Today, on April 12, the prices of petrol and diesel remain stable in major cities of the country. Crude oil prices are skyrocketing in view of the interruption in fuel supply across the world. Ever since America and Israel attacked Iran, international oil prices have been continuously increasing. These have increased by about 50 percent and have now reached above $100 per barrel.
Relief to consumers in India
Despite huge fluctuations in global crude oil markets, oil companies and the government have not allowed these changes to affect domestic consumers. Amid concerns of rising inflation, the government has announced a cut in excise duty on petrol and diesel to reduce the need for price increase to some extent. According to PTI report, the country’s second largest private fuel retailer Jio-BP has no plans to increase fuel prices immediately.
Despite the huge surge in international oil prices, this joint fuel venture of Reliance Industries Ltd and BP Plc has kept the fuel rates stable. According to PTI report, Jio-BP Chief Executive Akshay Wadhwa said on Friday that Jio-BP is not planning to increase rates right now. It is noteworthy that due to the war in the Middle East, the supply of oil has been interrupted due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. 20 percent of fuel is supplied worldwide through this route.
Private companies did not provide relief
Private fuel companies like Nayara Energy and Shell have increased their rates on petrol and diesel. Russia’s big oil company Rosneft has a major stake in Naira. It has increased the price on petrol by Rs 5 and on diesel by Rs 3. Prices at Shell petrol pumps are also often higher than those at government petrol pumps. The company charges more in the name of better service and premium fuel.
