Political activities are intense regarding Assam Assembly elections. With election rallies, leaders are leaving no opportunity to target their rivals. On Sunday (April 5), Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda targeted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sarma in a press conference. He also accused his wife of having passports from three countries. At the same time, Assam CM has hit back at the allegations of Congress spokesperson.
Pawan Kheda said during the press conference, ‘Such a big revelation against the sitting Chief Minister and his family has rarely happened before in Indian politics, we too were surprised. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sarma and his wife’s names have been involved in many scams like land grab, temple donation, government subsidy grab, chit fund etc., but today we are presenting the documents in front of you. He is keeping such documents, which are related to outside India.
Assam CM’s wife accused of having three passports each
Kheda further said, the shocking information is that Himanta Vishwa Sarma’s wife has not one or two but three passports. All three passports have not expired yet. He has a golden card of UAE. It was released on 14 March 2022 and is expiring on 13 March 2027. Also has passport of Antigua and Egypt. There may be others too but we don’t know.

He further said, ‘Name any other politician who has passports of three countries each. Are you a criminal that you need three passports? He alleged that today the wife of the sitting Chief Minister is not a citizen of India and she is illegal. If she is an Indian citizen then it is illegal. If these passports are not correct then Union Home Minister Amit Shah should be informed about it and an inquiry should be conducted on it. Congress spokesperson alleged, ‘There is a government of robbers in Assam. This is preparation for absconding. He is preparing to leave the country if he loses the elections.
Assam CM’s counterattack on Kheda’s allegations
Assam CM Himanta Vishwa Sarma has hit back at Pawan Kheda’s press conference. He posted on X and wrote, it reflects the deep frustration and panic within the Congress party. As Assam moves decisively towards a historic mandate, such desperate and baseless attacks only highlight their weak position. I categorically reject every allegation made by him. These are malicious, fabricated and politically motivated lies aimed at misleading the people of Assam.
He said, ‘My wife and I will file criminal and civil defamation cases against Mr. Pawan Kheda within the next 48 hours. He will be held fully accountable for his reckless and defamatory statements. I have full faith in the judiciary. Once the truth is proved in the court, Pawan Kheda will have to face the consequences of his actions and the law will take its course. The people of Assam will not be misled by such propaganda. We are determined and confident of getting a decisive mandate of more than 100 seats from the public.
