Himesh, born on 23 July 1973, is today a big name in the Indian music world and has given many superhit songs in his career.
Himesh Reshammiya’s father Vipin Reshammiya was a well-known musician. There was an atmosphere of music in the house since childhood, hence Himesh’s interest in music also increased. But, he started with the TV industry.
Himesh started his career from the TV industry. He produced many TV serials like ‘Andaz’, ‘Aman’, ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Amar Prem’ and ‘Jaan’. He also composed the title tracks of these serials.

Salman Khan gave his first big opportunity
The biggest turning point in Himesh’s career came when Salman Khan heard a tune composed by him. Salman liked his work so much that he gave him a chance to give music in his film ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’. Songs like ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ and ‘Tum Par Hum Hain Atke’ of this film, released in the year 1998, were superhit. After this Himesh did not look back. He created his own identity by giving music in films like ‘Bandhan’, ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’, ‘Humraaz’, ‘Tere Naam’, ‘Aitraaz’ and ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’.
500 songs were prepared in advance
Himesh himself had told in an interview that he had brought a stock of about 500 songs to the industry. He believed that if a musician has good tunes prepared in advance, then when given an opportunity, he can immediately give excellent work. This was the reason why in the beginning he kept getting offers for films. When most of the songs he composed were used, he took a break of about a year and again composed about 500 new tunes.
Became a superstar as a singer too
Himesh made his big debut as a playback singer in the year 2005 with the title track of the film ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’. This song became such a big hit that he became a star overnight. After this, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, ‘Tera Suroor’, ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, ‘Hookah Bar’ and many other songs made him one of the most famous singers of the country. His album ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ was also tremendously successful and remained people’s favorite for a long time. Later he also acted in films. He was seen in lead roles in films like ‘Aap Ka Surroor’, ‘The Xpose’, ‘Tera Surroor’ and ‘BadAss Ravi Kumar’.
Acting and new talent also given a chance
Along with music, Himesh also acted in films. He was seen in lead roles in films like ‘Aap Ka Surroor’, ‘The Expose’, ‘Tera Surroor’ and ‘BadAss Ravi Kumar’. He also played the role of judge and mentor in ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’, ‘Music Ka Mahamukabala’ and many reality shows. He also gave a chance to new talents like Ranu Mandal and Amarjeet Jayakar to sing. Later he also started his own music label ‘Himesh Reshammiya Melodies’.

Talking about awards, Himesh Reshammiya received Filmfare Award, IIFA Award, Zee Cine Award and many other honors for ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’. He also received many big awards and nominations for music direction.
