For excellent aroma and good yield, one should always use good quality seeds from a trusted source. Before sowing the seeds in the field, soak them in water for about twenty-four hours and then tie them in a cotton cloth and let them germinate. Seed treatment significantly reduces the risk of diseases in plants.

The soil of the land you are choosing for preparing saplings should be very fertile and flat. It is best to plow the field two-three times and mix well decomposed cow dung in it. Only after making the soil friable, small and raised beds should be made in it for the nursery.

Sprinkling of germinated seeds in the prepared beds should be done in an even manner so that the plants do not grow too densely at one place. The seeds should be covered with a thin layer of soil or light manure so that they can get the necessary warmth. Immediately after this, light watering should be done so that the soil remains moist.

It is best to apply light water to the beds in the morning or evening. Light moisture should be maintained in the fields continuously until the plants become two-three inches tall.
