If you want to take admission in professional courses in Himachal Pradesh in the year 2026, then there is good news for you. The application process for Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test i.e. HPCET 2026 has started. Through this examination, admission will be given in many courses like B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, MBA, MCA and M.Sc. In such a situation, it is very important for students to have correct information about the exam pattern and application process.
Himachal Pradesh Technical University has invited online applications for HPCET 2026. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website of the university, himtu.ac.in. This examination is considered very important for those students who want to make their career in technical and professional courses. Every year a large number of students take part in this entrance test.
Exam Pattern of B.Tech and B.Pharmacy
A total of 150 multiple choice questions will be asked in the examination for students taking admission in B.Tech and B.Pharmacy courses. These questions will be from Physics, Chemistry and Maths or Biology. The exam will be of total 600 marks and students will be given 3 hours 15 minutes to solve the paper. Negative marking of 1 mark will also be applicable for wrong answers. Therefore students will have to answer thoughtfully
Exam Pattern of MBA, MCA and MBA (T&HM)
There will be a total of 75 questions in the exam for MBA, MCA and MBA (Tourism and Hotel Management) courses. These questions will be asked from VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude. The exam will be of total 300 marks and the time limit has been fixed at 2 hours. In this also, 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. In such a situation, both speed and accuracy will be important.

Different pattern for M.Sc course
For candidates taking admission in MSc programme, the examination will consist of 100 multiple choice questions. Total marks have been kept at 100 and you will get 2 hours to solve the paper. In this, negative marking will be of 0.25 marks. That is, less marks will be deducted for giving wrong answers, but still caution is necessary.
Exam will be held in offline mode
HPCET 2026 exam will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper based manner. Students will have to go to the examination center and fill the answers on the OMR sheet. Therefore, candidates should practice time management and filling OMR in advance.

- To apply, first go to the official website himtu.ac.in.
- There click on Register option under One Time Registration.
- After this, create an account with the help of Aadhar card and get Unique Him Access ID.
- Then login and fill the information and eligibility.
- After this upload passport size photo and signature.
- Go to the course list, select your preferred course and click on Apply.
- Finally download the final form and keep it safe.
