India Israel Relations: Amidst the growing tension in relations between America and Israel, a statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the news. Netanyahu has said that apart from America, Israel is now forming new strategic alliances with other big powers of the world. During this, he specifically mentioned India and said that Israel is getting tremendous support in a big country like India. This statement has come at a time when differences between America and Israel regarding Iran have come to the fore.

‘Building new relations with India’

According to a Firstpost report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned India in a recent interview with right-wing journalist Sharon Gal. He said, “You have to form new alliances and build new relationships. This is what I am doing with India at this time.” This statement of Netanyahu has come at a time when news of tension in Israel’s relations with America is continuously emerging.

Also replied to JD Vance

Netanyahu also responded to the remarks of US Vice President JD Vance. In fact, after criticizing America’s peace agreement with Iran, Vance had advised Israel that it should avoid public statements against America, its most powerful ally in the world. Responding to this, Netanyahu said, “We also have some other friends. There is a small country called India. There are 1.4 billion people there and we have tremendous support there.”

Why did the Iran deal increase the distance between America and Israel?

In recent months, differences have emerged between the two countries regarding the peace agreement between Iran and America. According to the report, Israel wanted military pressure to be continued on Iran, but after a long conflict, America chose the path of compromise with Iran and moved towards a ceasefire. It is being told that Israel was not satisfied with this decision. The Israeli leadership believed that it was necessary to maintain pressure on Iran. Tension increased between the two countries on this issue.

Relations between Trump and Netanyahu also turned sour

There is also talk of tension in the personal relations between US President Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. In the book ‘Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump’ by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, it is claimed that a phone conversation between the two leaders regarding the peace agreement during the Israel-Hamas war was very tense.

According to the book, Trump expressed his displeasure with Netanyahu and said that he had done a lot for him and now he should move towards an agreement. The report claims that Trump also used harsh words during the conversation.

Why is the mention of India important?

At a time when reports of differences in relations between America and Israel are coming to the fore, Netanyahu’s mention of India as a new strategic partner is being considered diplomatically important. However, defence, technology, agriculture and strategic cooperation between India and Israel have been stronger than before. Netanyahu’s latest statement is being seen in the context of this broader partnership.
