IMD Heavy Rainfall Warning: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to extremely heavy rain in many parts of the country for the next 7 days. This heavy rain has created a big problem for the agriculture sector along with the normal life. At present, sowing of Kharif crops has been done or preparations are being made for it in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In such a situation, if there is heavy rain then small plants of crops can get damaged. In such a situation, bad weather can spoil all the hard work of the farmers.

Why are these 7 days very important?

This time becomes so important for the farmers because it is the time for planting of paddy, soybean, maize, cotton and pulses and oilseed crops in the fields. In many areas, paddy plants are still in their initial stages and at this time the plants need moisture, but if water remains stagnant in the fields for several days, it causes the roots to rot and the entire crop gets destroyed. Also, due to heavy rains, essential nutrients are washed away from the upper layer of the soil. Due to which crops start turning yellow

Farmers should take these measures immediately

In view of the warning from the Meteorological Department, farmers will have to make preparations from now on for the safety of their fields. The first and most important task is to remove excess water from the fields. Make deep drains around the fields so that the accumulated water can drain out immediately. Especially there should be no stagnation of water in vegetable and pulse crops. During this period, do not apply any kind of manure, fertilizer or pesticide in the fields. Because these chemicals will wash away in heavy rains, which will ruin your cost.
