The controversy regarding famous Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sutlej’ is not ending. Now meanwhile, the film’s director Honey Trehan has completely rejected the allegations that it was being called a ‘propaganda film’. The film has also been accused of increasing tension between communities, on which the director claimed that the ground reality is something else. Let us know what he said.
The film has united Punjab, not divided it…
Speaking to Indian Express, director Honey Trehan said, ‘Is it right to ban the film? They are saying that my film may spoil the law and order situation in Punjab. On the contrary, my film has actually united Punjab. You go to Punjab and see for yourself, people are watching this film together. They are saying that this film is dividing the society and creating rift between Hindus and Sikhs, but in reality both the communities are watching it together.
Controversy increased after government intervention…
He further said, ‘The purpose of this film was not to provoke anyone. My film is like healing the wounds of those people who suffered a lot during that period. I don’t think there was any reason to ban it. During the conversation, Honey Trehan argued that the dispute started when the government interfered in it. He said that as long as the film was on the OTT platform, people were watching it peacefully.

The director said, ‘In the first 48 hours, people were watching my film peacefully in their homes. There was no problem then, but the government banned the film and now it has become a movement. For the last 10 days, everyone is watching the film peacefully, even langar is being served to the people.
Why this discrimination in our country?
Citing other films giving political messages, Honey Trehan said, ‘Even if you are calling my film a propaganda film, then let it be released in the same way as you have allowed other propaganda films to be released. Why this discrimination? Our country is very big. No single film can harm the social fabric of the country.
Why was the film ‘Sutlej’ removed?
Let us tell you that ‘Sutlej’ premiered on ZEE5 in India on July 3, but it was removed from the platform within just 48 hours.
