Statements have come from both the countries on the news of India rejecting the trade deal between India and America. India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has completely rejected this report. A few hours later, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore also termed this news as fake news. The US Ambassador clarified that neither party has rejected any agreement.
Responding to the report of news agency Reuters, US Ambassador Sergio Gore posted on social media platform X saying that it is a fake news alert. Nobody has ruled anything out. He said that there have been very positive meetings between the two sides regarding the trade deal. The US Ambassador said that both sides have reiterated their commitment to finalize the trade agreement. We are constantly actively engaged. He further said that Reuters, you can do better than this.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has also termed this report on social media as completely wrong and baseless. Goyal said that this news is nothing but completely false, baseless and misleading. I had excellent meetings with US Trade Representative Jameson Greer when he visited Delhi in June, and both sides are committed to an agreement that is balanced and makes commercial sense. He told that our teams are busy achieving this objective.
Fake news alert! No one has rejected anything. Both sides had very constructive meetings and reaffirmed their commitment to finalizing a trade deal. We continue to stay actively engaged.

We are at the very last step of this deal – Sergio Gore
Sergio Gore, while addressing the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Leadership Summit last month, had said that this historic trade agreement is now in its final stages. Gore had said that we are at the very last step of this deal. Most of the work of this agreement has been completed. There are only a few things left from both sides. You can say that this deal is now stuck on its last 1 percent part. He had said that he is working continuously to complete this deal as soon as possible.
