Modi remembered the great personalities of West Bengal
PM Modi remembered the great personalities of West Bengal during the program. He said, it is very special to be in Bengal today on the occasion of Yoga Day. This holy land of Bengal, where accomplished saints like Lord Ramakrishna Paramahansa incarnated, from where Swami Vivekananda introduced Yoga to the whole world, where great yogis like Maharishi Aurobindo were born, where great yogis like Lahiri Mahasaya took the yoga tradition to new heights, today the experience of collective yoga on the same land is giving a different spiritual experience. On this occasion, PM Modi also remembered Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore. He said, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, born on the land of Bengal, believed that the identity of man does not lie in living separately, but in connecting with the world around him. This connection is the basic idea of yoga.
What did the PM say about Maharishi Aurobindo?
PM Modi also repeated the words of Maharishi Arvind. PM Modi said, Maharishi Arvind also used to say that our entire life is yoga, whether we are aware of it or not. When yoga comes into nature, it becomes the basis of human unity. Yoga is not just a means of physical exertion, yoga is not limited to just one age group. Yoga is a light of human life, along with consciousness, along with energy. PM Modi said that when we talk about ‘Yoga for healthy old age’, it means that we try to ensure that increasing age does not limit human potential. Yoga can inspire human life towards continuous development and self-improvement. He said, our aim should be that at the age of 40 we should be more flexible than at the age of 20. Our goal should be that at the age of 50 we are more energetic than at the age of 30. Our goal should be that at the age of 70 we have more immunity to lifestyle diseases than we did at the age of 50. This is the area where yoga can help us.
