In the final of IPL 2026, the teams of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans will be on the field on 31 May (Sunday). The match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As the match is getting closer, a question is also arising that if the match is canceled due to rain, then who will be given the trophy, Bengaluru or Gujarat? Here you will get the answer to this question.
Reserve day is for the final
Let us tell you that a reserve day has been kept for the final. If due to rain the match cannot be held on the scheduled day i.e. Sunday, then the match will be held on the next day i.e. Monday. If the match cannot be held even on the reserve day, then it will be considered cancelled. To get the result it is necessary to have a match of at least 5-5 overs.
Who will get the trophy if the match is cancelled?
In case of cancellation of the match, the trophy will be handed over to the team finishing first in the points table. Bengaluru had finished the league stage at the first position in the points table. Gujarat is at second position. Therefore, if canceled, Bengaluru will be declared the winner and given the trophy.
RCB eyes second consecutive trophy
Bengaluru will be eyeing to win its second consecutive trophy. The team had won the first title in the last season i.e. 2025 season under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. Now the team would obviously like to win the second consecutive title.
Till now only Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have done the feat of winning 2 consecutive trophies. CSK had won consecutive titles in 2010 and 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Mumbai had won titles in 2019 and 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Now it will be interesting to see whether Bengaluru finds itself in this list or not.
