The ongoing war in the Middle East is gradually becoming more frightening, which is going to affect the world even more. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has given a statement on Saturday (April 4, 2026) regarding the conditions for the end of the war. He said that Iran has never refused to go to Pakistan for mediation talks, but there should be a definite solution to the war.
We did not refuse to go to Pakistan: Araghchi
Abbas Araghchi posted on X and said, ‘Iran’s position is being misrepresented by the American media. We are grateful to Pakistan for its efforts for mediation talks and we have never refused to go to Islamabad. Our concern is about the conditions for a decisive and permanent end to the illegal war that has been imposed on us.
Pakistani media claims about Iran
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is accusing the American media of misrepresenting Iran’s situation. Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune had first claimed on April 3, 2026, after the briefing of journalists by Ishaq Dar, quoting government sources, that America was ready to talk, but Iran refused to come to Islamabad at the last moment. After The Express Tribune, American newspaper Wall Street Journal had published similar news quoting Pakistani officials.
Ishaq Dar’s reaction on Araghchi’s post
Both reports were later rejected by Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, who said that the facts stated in Ishaq Dar’s briefing were distorted. Responding to Araghchi’s tweet, Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar wrote, ‘I am really grateful for your clarification, my dear brother.’
Araghchi’s statement comes at a time when Pakistan on Thursday (2 April 2026) said that it would be an honor for it to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the US and Iran for a permanent solution to the ongoing war in West Asia. PAK Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the five-point initiative proposed by China and Pakistan to restore peace and stability in West Asia was a major outcome of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Beijing and the initiative has been widely welcomed.
Iran rejected the ceasefire proposal
Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that there has been a change of regime in Iran and the current government there is ready to accept America’s proposal. On the other hand, Tehran rejected all the claims of America and made it clear that it will fight the war. Iran formally rejected America’s proposal for a 48-hour ceasefire. According to the report of Fars News Agency, the US had sent the proposal through the mediation country on Wednesday (April 1, 2026).
