The EA-37B Compass Call, a new electronic warfare aircraft, has been spotted at a British airbase. Flight tracking data showed that the two EA-37B aircraft took off from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona on March 30 and later landed in Britain. Pictures shared online have confirmed the presence of these planes at Mildenhall.
This plane blinds the radar
According to TOI report, EA-37B Compass Call is a high-tech electronic attack jet of the US Air Force, which has been designed to jam enemy communications, radar, GPS and navigation systems. This means that it can disrupt enemy defense and attack systems instead of attacking targets directly. Apart from this, it helps in both air and ground military operations. Its main function is to disrupt the enemy’s command and control system and blind the radar, thereby clearing the way for allied aircraft.
How powerful is the EA-37B Compass Call?
This electronic attack jet of the US Air Force can fly at a speed of about 770 miles per hour and can reach a height of up to 45,000 feet. Its range is approximately 4,400 nautical miles. It can carry up to 9 crew members. One of its main features is its advanced system, which is called SWORD-A. This system helps the aircraft to rapidly upgrade its technology and adapt itself to new threats. Because of this, it is completely capable of competing with modern communication systems.
EA-37B is designed to weaken the enemy’s defense. This destroys the enemy’s ability to communicate and coordinate with each other during war. Officials refused to give further information citing security reasons. The US Army currently has 5 EA-37B aircraft.
