US Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected Iran’s claim in a post on social media platform X. Centcom wrote in a post titled ‘Fact Check’ on X, ‘Iran’s state TV has claimed that the Iranian army has shot down a US fighter jet near the city of Bushehr. This is completely wrong. CENTCOM further wrote, no American aircraft was shot down. All America’s air assets are completely safe.

What is Iran’s claim?
Iran’s state TV quoted a local official as saying on Thursday (May 28) that an air defense system shot down a fighter jet in the Bushehr area near Bushehr in southern Iran. The report said that the incident occurred near the coastal province.

According to Iran’s news agency Tasnim, Jam County Governor Masoud Tangestani said, a US plane was destroyed in the Jam area of Bushehr. He said, ‘The incident that happened tonight was related to the downing of an enemy aircraft. Now the situation is normal in the city.
On the other hand, there is news of a draft peace agreement being prepared between America and Iran. The US official said that Iran’s negotiators have agreed to extend the ceasefire for 60 days and start nuclear talks, the temporary agreement is awaiting the approval of US President Donald Trump.
