Tension between America and Iran has increased once again. The US Army has attacked Iranian bases, after which the situation in the Middle East has become more serious. The attack came at a time when US President Donald Trump accused Iran of foolishly violating the ceasefire after the attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran’s coastal radar positions along with missile and drone storage bases were attacked on Friday. America said that this action was taken in response to the drone attack on a cargo ship on Thursday. Due to that attack, the plan to evacuate the sailors stranded in the area was also halted. Iran justified the attack on the cargo ship, saying that the ship was using an unauthorized route to pass through the Gulf waterway.

What did Iran say about the American attack?
After the American attack, Iran also retaliated and accused America of violating the interim agreement. Iran says that in retaliation it targeted targets associated with the US military. CENTCOM issued a statement saying that the American strikes are a strong response to the drone attack that took place a day earlier. America says that the attack on commercial shipping by Iran’s army is a clear violation of the ceasefire. Besides, Iran’s aggressive actions have also endangered maritime trade and freedom of navigation. America also said that it will continue to help provide safe passage to commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday (27 June 2026) morning saying that America has violated the agreement. Iran blamed America for this entire crisis. IRGC said that its Navy has targeted American military bases, although not much information was given.
Bahrain attacked by Iranian drone
Bahrain claimed that several Iranian drones targeted its territory on Saturday morning. Bahrain called it a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and accused Iran of undermining peace efforts. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operation reported that a tanker was attacked by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz. The ship’s bridge was damaged, but all crew members were safe and there was no damage to the environment. After the attacks by America and Israel in late February, Iran started tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz. This sea route is considered very important for oil and gas supply. Due to its impact, oil prices rose across the world and the supply of essential goods was also affected.
14-point agreement agreed between America and Iran
America and Iran agreed to a 14-point agreement on June 17. In this, Iran had promised to ensure safe movement of commercial ships for 60 days. US Vice President JD Vance said on social media that if Iran has any objection to the implementation of the agreement, then the door to negotiations is open, but violence will be responded to with violence. Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, said that America has once again attacked amidst negotiations. He said that this is a serious violation of ceasefire and it will be responded to. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Donald Trump said that he did not like Iran’s recent action. He said that Iran should not have done this.
Strait of Hormuz created ruckus
In recent days, US officials had claimed that talks with Iran were moving in a good direction and the idea of imposing toll on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz had also been abandoned. However, Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf clearly said that the operation of the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be the same as before. The cargo ship was attacked on Thursday. That ship was the Singaporean Ivar Lavallee. The ship was near Dahit Port in Oman when it was attacked. The ship owner company said that the ship was sailing on the scheduled route and all the crew members were safe. Following the attack, the IMO has halted plans to evacuate more than 11,000 sailors who have been stranded in the main shipping lanes since the war began. At present, the situation in the Middle East remains very tense and the eyes of the world are fixed on the next step of America-Iran.
