LPG Rate Today: CPI leaders create ruckus over the increased price of gas cylinder, know what is the rate today?

LPG Price Today on May 5: CPI (Communist Party of India) protested fiercely last Sunday in Tamil Nadu against the sudden increase in the prices of commercial gas. Also, CPI leaders demanded the government to immediately withdraw the increased prices.

The party alleged that this move has broken the back of small businesses and roadside eateries. In protest against this price increase, CPI, CPI-M and VCK have announced massive protests on May 7 at district headquarters across the state.

Impact on livelihood

CPI South Chennai district secretary S.K. Party workers, led by Shiva, gathered near the Panagal Building in Saidapet and raised slogans against the BJP-led central government. Addressing the protesters, Shiva said that due to the increase in the prices of commercial gas, many small restaurants and roadside food stalls have been forced to close, which has directly affected the livelihood of thousands of workers.

Concern continues over LPG price

US President Donald Trump has announced ‘Project Freedom’ to help stranded cargo and commercial ships pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, even after this, concerns remain regarding the prices of crude oil and LPG. Many countries including India have been affected by the naval blockade imposed by America.

India imports 90 percent of its LPG requirement and more than 40 percent of crude oil from West Asian countries. Due to less supply through this route, the Central Government increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi by Rs 993 to Rs 3,071.50. This was the third consecutive increase in the price of 19 kg cylinder this year. However, there was no change in the price of domestic cylinder.
