Lucknow Super Giants have defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 runs in a thrilling match. Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd kept the match exciting till the last over, but Digvesh Rathi bowled tightly in the last over and ensured Lucknow’s victory. The biggest contribution to Lucknow’s victory was Mitchell Marsh’s century, while in bowling, fast bowler Prince Yadav wreaked havoc.
This match was stopped repeatedly due to rain. Batting first, Lucknow team had scored 209 runs. In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore had to score 80 runs in 5 overs at one time. Tim David, Krunal Pandya and then Romario Shepherd wreaked such havoc that in the last over, Bengaluru seemed to be moving towards victory.
First win after 8 consecutive defeats
This victory is also historic for Lucknow Super Giants, because it has got its first victory after suffering 8 consecutive defeats on its home ground. The LSG team’s last win at the Ekana Stadium came against Gujarat Titans in April 2025. After that, Rishabh Pant and his army had lost the last eight consecutive matches here. But now by defeating RCB by 9 runs, Lucknow has put an end to that losing streak.

20 runs were needed in the last 6 balls
Bengaluru team had to score 20 runs in the last 6 balls to win. In front was Digvesh Rathi, who had given away 41 runs in his first 3 overs. Nevertheless, captain Rishabh Pant showed confidence in Rathi and entrusted him with the responsibility of the last over. Only 2 runs came on the first 3 balls and then wides. The circumstances were such that Bengaluru had to hit three sixes in three balls to win. Shepherd hit a four on the fourth ball, with this Lucknow’s victory was confirmed.
Lucknow Super Giants may still be at the bottom of the points table, but they have kept their playoff hopes alive. LSG has 6 points from 10 matches and still has four matches left in the league stage.
