Madhya Pradesh BUMS Hindi Textbooks: Now BUMS will be taught in Hindi also, MP will become the first state

To overcome this problem, the state government has decided to get these books translated into Hindi. This initiative is being taken for the only Government Unani Medical College of the state located in Bhopal, where in recent years the number of students who do not know Urdu language has been continuously increasing.

The biggest reason behind implementing this is that the number of non-Urdu speaking students was increasing every year in this college of Bhopal, and they find it difficult to study from books written in Urdu. In the session 2025-26, out of total 75 seats, students who do not know Urdu took admission in 15 seats. That is, it is clear that the number of non-Urdu speaking students is increasing every year, and this is the reason why the government now felt the need to bring Hindi books.

A major reason for this increase is a change in the admission rules of the Central Government. By changing the rules from the session 2022-23 onwards, it was decided that studying Urdu in class 10th will no longer be mandatory for admission in Unani medical course. Earlier this condition was mandatory, due to which many students were not able to take admission in this course even if they wanted to.

According to AYUSH Department officials, this decision is also expected to increase the participation of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes i.e. SC, ST and OBC students. The department says that many posts of Unani doctors are still lying vacant in the state, because qualified candidates from these categories are often not available. The special thing is that most of the new non-Urdu speaking students taking admission in this course come from these communities. In such a situation, with the advent of Hindi books, the education of these students will become easier, which can also help in filling the vacant posts of doctors in future.

The situation till now was that traditional courses like Unani Medicine were considered limited only to students knowing Urdu. Due to this, many bright students stayed away from this field just because of the language. Now after the arrival of Hindi books, this obstacle will be removed and Unani medical education will be open to students of every class and language.
