At least 15 people, including 12 army personnel, died in a suicide attack in Pakistan. This statement has been issued by Pakistan Army on Friday. This attack took place on a security post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The media wing of the Pakistani Army said, ’15 people have lost their lives in this suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which includes 12 army personnel, two policemen and a former government officer of the forest department.’

How was the suicide attack carried out?

According to the army, security forces killed 12 terrorists in this attack in Tank district. The statement said, ‘The attackers rammed the vehicle into the wall of the security cordon. The blast has caused serious damage to the check post. No group immediately claimed responsibility for this attack, but the Islamic terrorist Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group has considerable influence in this area.

Pakistan had earlier blamed the insurgency spreading from Afghanistan for the increasing attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the southern border province of Balochistan. The Taliban government denies Afghanistan’s involvement in this.

Tension on Pakistan-Afghanistan border

Amidst this tension, Pakistan has entered the border of Afghanistan and carried out deadly air strikes. Pakistan claims that it has targeted the hideouts of terrorists present on Afghan soil. On the other hand, the Taliban administration and the United Nations say that dozens of innocent civilians have lost their lives in these Pakistani air strikes in the month of June. These attacks and allegations and counter-allegations have further deteriorated the relations between the two countries, due to which the situation on the border remains continuously tense.
