Who is Naresh Pal Gangwar?
Naresh Pal Gangwar is a 1994 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1993. Before his appointment, he was working as Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Now he has been given the command of the Higher Education Department of the Education Ministry. In his administrative career spanning nearly 3 decades, he held many important responsibilities in his state and central government. He has also been the Principal Secretary of many departments in the Rajasthan Government. He has worked as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the Central Government.
Where did Naresh Pal Gangwar study?
The educational qualification of Naresh Pal Gangwar is considered very strong. After B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Roorkee, he obtained M.Tech degree in Communication and Radar Engineering from IIT Delhi. After technical education, he also did MA in Economics from Rajasthan University.
Collector in many districts of Rajasthan
While serving in Rajasthan Government, Naresh Pal Gangwar was also the District Collector of many districts. In 2001, he was made the Collector of Tonk, after which he also served as Collector in districts like Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur and Bharatpur. In 2014, he was made the Secretary of the School Education Department of the Government of Rajasthan, where he worked for a long time.

What will be their responsibilities now?
As Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Naresh Pal Gangwar will be responsible for the implementation of the policies related to higher education of the country. Many major decisions related to Central Universities, IITs, NITs, UGC, Technical Educational Institutes and National Education Policy will be taken in his work area. Apart from this, at present, restoring the confidence of students in the examination system is being considered a big challenge for the Ministry of Education.
What is the salary of IAS Secretary?
As Secretary of Higher Education Department, Naresh Pal Gangwar will get the salary of Secretary to the Government of India. According to the Seventh Pay Commission, the basic salary of a Secretary to the Government of India is up to Rs 2.25 lakh per month. Apart from this, they also get dearness allowance, traveling allowance, government accommodation, official vehicle, driver, staff and other government facilities.
