- The marks of the candidates may increase or decrease due to this process.
This time, if you are going to appear for UP TET 2026 exam, then this news may be important for you. For the first time, normalization formula is going to be implemented in UPTET results. In such a situation, marks of many candidates may increase, while marks of some may also decrease. The purpose of this rule is to provide equal opportunity to all the candidates.
The exam will be held between July 2 and July 4.
UPTET 2026 will be organized on 2, 3 and 4 July across Uttar Pradesh. This time the number of candidates is very high. For this reason, the examination will be conducted in three days and in two shifts every day. That means the exam will be held in a total of 6 shifts. When an exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the question paper of each shift may not be exactly the same. The paper of some shift may be a little easy, while that of others may be difficult. Normalization is used to eliminate this difference.
What is normalization?
Normalization is a mathematical process. This process is used in those examinations which are conducted in several shifts. This time, normalization is being implemented for the first time in UPTET. Instead of implementing this process, the examination is to be conducted in different shifts.
UPESSC believes that when the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, all the candidates get equal opportunity. For this reason, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the decisions of the Supreme Court and the system being adopted in other major recruitment examinations.
Can the numbers be changed after the results come?
In this process, the marks of some candidates may be less than before. The marks of some candidates may also increase. The final result will be prepared after normalization. Therefore, it would not be correct to estimate your rank or selection only on the basis of answer key.

Which candidates will get the chance?
If any candidate’s paper was tougher than the walki shift then he/she can get the benefit of this normalization process. The marks of such candidates can increase so that they do not have to suffer the loss of difficult paper.
Which candidates’ marks may be reduced?
If the question paper of a shift was relatively easy and a large number of candidates have scored good marks in it, then after normalization the marks of such candidates may be slightly less. However, this deduction is not done arbitrarily. For this a fixed normalization process is used. During this process, the marks of many candidates may remain the same. At the same time, the numbers of some may increase or decrease slightly.
