Virat Kohli played an important role in helping Royal Challengers Bangalore win by scoring a brilliant century in the 57th match of IPL 2026 played against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday (May 13). This was the 9th century of Kohli’s IPL career. But more than King Kohli’s century, everyone’s attention went to his viral video, in which he is saying, ‘Now we have to play a little for India.’
After this video surfaced, a question arose whether Kohli has retired from ODI cricket also? At present, Kohli is available for India only for 50 over format. He has retired from T20 International and Test. Kohli had said goodbye to T20 International in 2024 and Test format in 2025. But the question of retirement from ODI still remains. You will get the answer to this only by watching the video.
‘Now we have to play a little for India’, why did Kohli say this?
As can be seen in the video, during the match, Kohli is talking to someone about playing some scoop shot type shots behind the wicket. It is very rare to see Kohli try something different from his cricketing shots. Meanwhile, Kohli says that ‘now we have to play a little for India.’ What Kohli meant to say was that now he does not have to play T20 cricket for India, due to which he can play such shots in IPL. Along with this, let us tell you that Kohli has not retired from ODI cricket. He is fully available for India in ODI format. He played the last 50 over match for Men in Blue against New Zealand in January this year. In future too, he will be seen playing in ODIs for India.
