In fact, recently, to increase the income of farmers, the government has increased the price of onion purchase from Rs 15.80 per kg to Rs 16.50 per kg under its buffer stock program. These new rates will come into effect from Saturday. When the purchase price has increased, it is obvious that the price of selling onion will also increase soon. Now people are going to find onion very expensive in the market.

Farmer is not satisfied
However, farmers of Maharashtra, the largest onion producing state in the country, are not satisfied with this price. He says that the cost of farming (seeds, fertilizers, labor etc.) has increased significantly, hence the government should purchase onions at the rate of Rs 30 per kg. According to the demand of farmers, they want to double the direct purchase rate. But the government also knows that this will increase the burden on the common man even more.
Let us tell you that recently the retail inflation rate of the country has also increased. In which the prices of tomatoes have increased by 48.43 percent. Whereas the prices of ginger have increased by 32.49 percent. These figures are for the month of May. India’s economy has been in trouble for several months continuously due to the Iran-US war.
