There is already a lot of political activity regarding the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027. Meanwhile, information has come out from Varanasi district, which is considered to be the biggest arena of politics in the state, that Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has made full preparations to contest the next assembly elections on three major seats.
If Varanasi district and rural areas are included, there are a total of 8 assembly seats where the Bharatiya Janata Party and its supported parties have been in continuous possession for the last 10 years. Among these eight seats, the South, North and Cantt assembly seats of the district are considered to be the most popular and AIMIM has also made preparations to field its candidates on these three seats. Party’s District Vice President Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari said that the green signal for these three seats has been received from the State President and we are fully prepared. Certainly, we have more public support here and hence we will enter the field here without any compromise.
Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari said that contesting elections of AIMIM is going to create a stir in the political camp because Muslim voters have a tremendous influence on these seats and certainly even a few percent of votes are enough to change the result here. In such a situation, according to the last election results, AIMIM’s entry on these seats can create panic in the SP camp.
After all, why are Varanasi’s South Cantt and North assembly seats famous?
Among the 8 assembly seats of Varanasi, South Cantt and North Assembly seat are considered very hot seats. The most important reason was that BJP MLA Dr Neelkanth Tiwari had won the 2022 assembly elections in the Southern Assembly with a very small margin. At the same time, this assembly seat has been an impenetrable fort for the Bharatiya Janata Party for decades and currently under this assembly seat, the issue of Dalmandi widening and Kashi Gyanvapi has also been in the headlines even in the court.
Talking about Cantt and Northern Assembly, in the first phase of the SIR process, information about a large number of voters being left out of the list in these assembly seats had also come to light. In such a situation, it remains to be seen what changes take place in the equation after AIMIM contests the elections on Varanasi assembly seats.
