Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump at the G7 summit. Both the leaders have met each other after 16 months. The PM will also hold bilateral talks with Canada, UK and UAE here. The meeting of PM Modi and Trump has taken place at a time when the issue of attack on Indian sailors by the US Navy near the coast of Oman is heated.
Will the issue of killing of Indians arise?
Another big question is whether PM Modi will raise questions on the G-7 platform about the three Indian sailors killed in the American attack in the Strait of Hormuz. Instead of apologizing for the death of three Indians, on the contrary, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that all commercial ships should immediately follow the orders of the US military deployed to maintain peace and security in the area. While there is anger in India regarding this, questions are also being raised on America’s attitude.

Trump-PM Modi will meet: White House
The White House said on Saturday (June 13, 2026) that US President Donald Trump will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders during the G7 summit to be held in France next week. The two leaders are expected to review the developments in the ongoing talks regarding the proposed India-US trade agreement. According to the US official, President Trump will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Modi on June 17, after which he will attend a working lunch with G7 leaders, alliance partners and technical officials.
Why are European countries angry with Trump?
Amidst the recent tension in the Middle East, there is a lot of resentment among the leaders of European countries over the way the US President has commented about the allied countries. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are on Trump’s presence in G7. Amidst the heavy tension that has been going on since February this year, America and Iran have finally agreed to a peace deal. During the last few months, due to the tough and harsh stance adopted by the US President towards many G-7 allies, old differences have once again emerged.
In recent times, his statements have created a situation of ideological conflict even with those global leaders with whom he used to have much better and respectable relations. Actually, the reason for Trump’s displeasure is the desire of America’s allies not to get involved in the US-Israel conflict against Iran. In reality, however, the president’s relations with the G7 have been strained for years. It started with a tense summit during the first term of the American President.
The equation between Trump and Macron changed
Trump has known this year’s summit host, French President Emmanuel Macron, for the longest time. However, in recent times, Trump’s comments regarding Macron have changed the equation between the two leaders. In recent times, Trump was sometimes seen commenting on Macron and sometimes commenting personally on Macron’s marriage. In such circumstances, Macron appeared more angry with his American counterpart in recent times. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are on the stance of the countries in G7 even with Trump.
