Preity Zinta Moves Bombay High Court: Bollywood’s ‘Dimple Girl’ i.e. Preity Zinta had recently approached the Bombay High Court. He has taken this step regarding misuse of his photos and videos through AI. Justice Madhav has given a big order showing seriousness in this matter. According to the report of ‘Bar and Bench’, recently Preity Zinta had filed a case against Google, Meta, domain registrar and others keeping in mind AI deepfakes and morphed content. The actress had said in her petition that her photographs were being tampered with. The actress clearly said that her identity and her face are being misused on social media. Keeping her point, the actress adopted the legal route. According to him, his AI-generated deepfake videos and morphed pictures are being spread among the people on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

Difficult to differentiate between real and fake
This case of Preity Zinta is in the hands of senior lawyer Venkatesh Dhond. He told the High Court that in today’s time it has become very difficult to identify deepfake content. He had demanded from the court that some necessary steps should be taken in this case and objectionable or misleading content should be removed. The lawyer said that by doing such things the moral rights, privacy and personality rights of the actress are being violated. It was also said that there are some websites which are using his name in a wrong way. Many websites are using the name of the actress for their content, but she has nothing to do with them. This means that people are being misled on the websites based on the name of the actress.
What did the lawyers appearing on behalf of Google and Meta say?
In this case, the statements of the lawyers appearing on behalf of Google, Meta and others have also come out. He has said in this matter that if Preity Zinta identifies the URL of such content, then she is ready to remove links with conditionally morphed or obscene content. He has also appealed to the court that no such order should be given which would affect the content which does not violate anyone’s rights.

Justice Madhav clarified that a practical ‘takedown mechanism’ should be created so that only such content is affected or such content is removed which causes any objection. This should not affect genuine online content.
