There is a big and relief news for the consumers troubled by huge outstanding water bills in the capital Delhi. Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has further expanded the scope of its ‘LPSC Waiver Scheme’ (Late Payment Surcharge Waiver Scheme).
Now the benefit of this scheme will be available to domestic consumers as well as commercial consumers. This decision will especially benefit those people on whom the burden of surcharge (fine) was continuously increasing for a long time.
What is LPSC Waiver Scheme and how to get benefits?
Under this scheme, the Water Board is giving complete 100% exemption from Late Payment Surcharge (LPSC) to its consumers. This simply means that if a consumer deposits his ‘Principal Amount’ within the stipulated time, then the additional surcharge (penalty) imposed on him will be completely waived.
Now relief for domestic as well as commercial consumers
Earlier this rebate scheme was limited only to consumers with domestic connections. But now it has been extended to shops, offices and other business connections also. This step of Delhi government is expected to provide huge financial relief to small traders and business institutions.
Last chance is 15th August 2026
Delhi Jal Board has fixed August 15, 2026 as the last date to avail the benefits of this scheme. If consumers deposit their original bill before this date, they will get the benefit of 100 percent waiver of surcharge. This discount may expire after the stipulated time limit passes, after which consumers will have to pay the bill with full surcharge.
Water Board’s appeal – ‘Pay on time’
Delhi Jal Board has appealed to all the consumers to take advantage of this golden opportunity as soon as possible and deposit their outstanding bills on time. This will not only provide relief from the heavy burden of surcharge, but will also avoid future charges like extra charges and connection disconnection.
