Rishabh Pant has been made a part of Team India for the 2-match Test series to be held on the Sri Lanka tour. Former South African captain AB de Villiers expressed surprise at this. De Villiers said that Pant was seen with less energy and confidence in IPL 2026. However, along with this he also expected Pant to make a great comeback.

Talking about Pant on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers said, “Rishabh Pant has been selected, which is a bit surprising in my opinion. We have to see how his fitness is and his will to perform well, because during the IPL his confidence and energy seemed a bit low.”

Further talking about Pant’s return, de Villiers said, “But now he is representing India again and I am sure this will bring out the best performance from No. 17. I am a big fan of his – I just want to see him playing with full enthusiasm.”

AB de Villiers also spoke on Saransh Jain?

33 year old all-rounder Saransh Jain, who comes from Madhya Pradesh, has also got a chance in India’s Test team. Talking about the all-rounder, De Villiers said, “Saaransh Jain is a big surprise. He is 33 years old and has been playing first-class cricket for some time. It is great to see that he finally got a chance. He is a right-arm off-spinner and a left-handed batsman, just like Washington Sundar.”
