‘Given a befitting reply with the bat’

However, after playing a brilliant inning of 138 runs at Lord’s, these speculations came to an end. While commentating during the opening match of The Hundred 2026, Ravi Shastri said, ‘Hitman will be completely relaxed now, because he has silenced his critics. Before the last ODI, there was a lot of noise about his future, but he gave a befitting reply with the bat by scoring 138 runs. This was his first ODI century at Lord’s.
Rohit was seen in The Hundred
After Lord’s ODI, Rohit Sharma was seen watching the match in the stands during the first match of The Hundred 2026 at Kia Oval in London. During this, while referring to his innings, Ravi Shastri said that Rohit answered all the questions with his performance.
Ashwin’s big claim
Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also openly expressed his opinion on the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He said, ‘If Rohit and Virat want to play then no one can even touch them. Rohit has approximately 12 thousand ODI runs in his name. His records are his own strength. People come to the field to see him. If such players are thrown out, a big controversy will arise.
Rohit’s target is 2027 World Cup
Ashwin said that Rohit Sharma is no longer playing to prove anything to anyone. According to him, ‘Rohit no longer needs to prove himself to anyone. His only motivation is that he wants to play the 2027 ODI World Cup. He is preparing himself for the same goal.
