Rohit’s average while opening is 54.50.
Talking about Gautam Gambhir, he played 91 innings while opening and scored 3367 runs. As an opener, Gambhir scored runs at an average of 39.61, played 8 centuries and 21 half-centuries. Gautam Gambhir had said goodbye to the game of cricket in December 2018.
Rohit close to creating history
In the history of ODI cricket, there are only 4 batsmen who have scored 10 thousand or more runs while opening. As an opener, Sachin Tendulkar scored 15310 runs, Sanath Jayasuriya scored 12740 runs and Chris Gayle scored 10179 runs. Rohit Sharma is just 135 runs away from joining the list of great batsmen.
