Was born in Gujarat
Sanjeev Kumar was born on 9 July 1938 in Surat, the textile capital of Gujarat. The real name of Sanjeev, who belonged to a Gujarati Hindu family, was Haribhai Jariwala. However, after entering the film world, he changed his name.

Had rented flat for non-veg food
Sanjeev Kumar had worked in many films including Sholay, Sita Aur Geeta, Trishul, Angoor, Try, Mausam, Toy and Anamika. Sanjeev was very fond of both food and drink. He used to eat a lot of non-veg and also drank a lot of alcohol. Bollywood actor Sachin Pilgaonkar had once made a big revelation about the late actor.
In a conversation with Kunal Vijaykar, Sachin Pilgaonkar had told that eating non-vegetarian was not allowed in Sanjeev’s house and hence he had rented a flat to eat non-veg. He had told, ‘He had taken another house for food. He had rented a 1-BHK flat in Pali Hill. This house was taken only for non-vegetarian food because non-vegetarian food was not allowed in their house.

Died due to excessive drinking
Whereas Bollywood actor Parikshit Sahni had also revealed Sanjeev Kumar’s eating habits and said that he used to drink too much alcohol and due to that he died. Parikshit had said in an interview given to ANI in the year 2025, ‘He used to eat and drink a lot. At 2 in the morning, he would eat a lot and throw the bones under the table. Because of this he died. He suffered a heart attack. Sanjeev left the world on 6 November 1985 at the age of 47.
