Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 1 run in a thrilling match on Wednesday. Three Gujarat batsmen including Shubman Gill scored half-centuries, due to which the team was able to reach the big score of 210 runs. KL Rahul (92) and Pathum Nissanka (41) gave a good start to Delhi, David Miller kept fighting till the end but in the end Gujarat emerged victorious. After the match, Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh.

Why was Gill fined?

Shubman Gill fined due to slow-over rate. “Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined after maintaining a slow over-rate in the match against Delhi Capitals. This was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh,” read the statement issued by the IPL.

If Gujarat Titans commits such a mistake again, then captain Gill will be fined Rs 24 lakh and then the impact player and the players included in the playing 11 will be fined Rs 12 lakh each. However, now the rule of banning the captain for one match for the third mistake has been removed.

Rashid Khan becomes POTM

Before 10 overs, Delhi Capitals’ score had crossed 100, the team was moving towards victory but due to continuous fall of wickets, Delhi kept lagging behind. In the end, David Miller took Delhi back to the threshold of victory by playing a stormy innings, but he could not even connect the ball on the last ball.

Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly, he gave only 17 runs in 4 overs and also took 3 wickets. He took 3 important wickets in the form of Nitish Rana (5), Sameer Rizvi (0) and Akshar Patel (2). Rizvi had scored half-centuries in both the last matches, Rashid did not even allow him to open his account.
