Earthquake News: The land of Afghanistan was shaken by strong earthquakes on Friday (April 3, 2026). Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the northern part of the country including the capital Kabul. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale. Apart from Afghanistan, its shocks have been felt in four countries, from Tajikistan, Pakistan to India. Earthquake tremors have also been felt in Jammu and Kashmir, capital New Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and some parts of Himachal Pradesh in India.
According to the GFZ, the epicenter of the earthquake was at 71.01 degrees east longitude and 36.52 degrees north latitude in Hindu Kush in the border area of Afghanistan and Tajikistan, while its depth was recorded at 175 kilometers, where the earthquake occurred at 4:12 pm UTC (about 8:42 pm local time).
No casualties or damage reported
According to the report of Tolo News, no loss of life or damage has been reported so far in Afghanistan due to the earthquake. However, fearing the strong tremors of the earthquake, there was an atmosphere of panic among the people and people came out of their homes and reached open areas.
Where were earthquake tremors felt in India?
According to the report of news agency IANS, strong tremors were felt till the capital Delhi in India due to the earthquake that occurred in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. It is being told that an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude occurred in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area on Friday, whose tremors were felt in many parts of North India including Jammu and Kashmir.

Chaos like atmosphere in Kupwara, Earth shook in Tibet
According to the report, due to earthquake in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, there was panic among the people for some time. However, there is no news of any damage or loss of life so far. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation. Earlier, earthquake tremors were felt in Tibet also. The earth shook in Tibet also at 8.12 pm. Whose intensity was measured at 3.2.
