The actress posted the picture and wrote, ‘I am deeply grateful for the smile that has remained on my face for the last 32 years. I realize that I am really very lucky and blessed. You all are the reason for this happiness. Happy 32 years of my becoming Miss Universe. Philippines, I love you very much and the love I got from there will always be special in my heart. I love you all very much from my heart.
Aishwarya Rai was also in the competition

Sushmita won the Miss India crown and was sent to the Miss Universe competition while Aishwarya Rai was sent to the Miss World pageant.
