Shubman Gill played the last T20 match for India against South Africa in December 2025. He was also not selected for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Now in the press conference before the final of IPL 2026, Gill made a big statement about playing all three formats for India. Gill says that he has to become a better batsman in every format like Test, ODI and T20.
Gill was asked a question about his return in T20. Responding to this, Gill said, “If I am selected in the T20 team, I will be happy. I want to work on my game. I want to continuously become a better batsman in T20, ODI and Test formats.”

Gill further said, “You know cricket is a game where you can never be perfect, but obviously you can try for it and that’s what I try to do.”
How to stay mentally fresh?
Gill told how he keeps himself mentally fresh? Gill said, “I think preparation is what keeps me mentally fresh, knowing what I have to do in the next week, the next few weeks or the next series or the next tournament and preparing for that.”
Shubman Gill’s T20 International career
If we look at Gill’s T20 International career, till now he has played 36 matches in the format. Batting in 36 innings of these matches, Gill has scored 869 runs at an average of 28.03 and strike rate of 138.59. During this period, he scored 1 century and 3 half-centuries, in which the high score was 126* runs. Now it will be interesting to see when Gill returns to the Indian T20 team.
