Flight Tickets: If you are planning a trip abroad in a few days, then there is a very good news for you. Because Air India on Thursday has reduced the fuel surcharge on some of its international flights. This has brought some relief to those traveling abroad. Passengers making travel plans after these changed new rates will get a lot of benefits.

What is the whole matter?
In fact, recently the prices of crude oil have been reduced in the international market. After which the prices of ATF i.e. Aviation Turbine Fuel have also declined. Only after this, Air India also decided to reduce the fuel surcharge. According to the new rates, fuel surcharge on flights to North America and Australia has been reduced from $280 to $200. At the same time, for flights going to Europe, this fee has been reduced from $205 to $125.

Read this also: Petrol-Diesel News: The cost of petrol and diesel did not affect the public! Big jump in fuel consumption in June

Other airlines are also planning
Sources associated with the aviation industry told in a conversation with NDTV Profit that all other airlines are also considering reducing the fuel surcharge. A decision in this matter can be taken by the end of the second quarter or the beginning of the third quarter. However, airlines believe that although international jet fuel prices have decreased recently, they are still higher than the old average level. Therefore, companies want to see whether this fall in prices continues for a long time or not.

How will passengers benefit?
Air tickets can become cheaper due to reduced fuel surcharge, such that fuel surcharge is a part of the total price of the ticket. When the airline reduces it, passengers have to pay less for the ticket. In such a situation, people traveling abroad can get a lot of relief from this. However, reduction in fuel surcharge does not at all mean that tickets have become cheaper forever. Because the final price of the ticket is decided according to the base fare, airport charge, tax, user development fee (UDF) and other charges.

There was a tense situation in the Middle East due to the war between America and Iran, but after the tension subsided, Air India Express has taken a big decision. It has restarted service to many places including Oman and Kuwait on Thursday (July 2). During the America-Iran war, both countries were attacking with missiles and drones. For this reason, many airlines around the world had banned flights.

Flights from Kozhikode to Salalah in Oman have been started from Thursday. Air India Express said through a press release that flights between Kozhikode and Kuwait will start from Friday. Whereas flights from Bengaluru, Karnataka to Kuwait will start from July 4. The important thing is that the number of flights will also be increased with time.

Fuel had become expensive due to America-Iran war

Due to the US-Iran war, fuel had become very expensive, but now after the tension has subsided, the price has come down. Many countries have reopened the airspace, which was closed due to tension. Therefore, airlines are also restarting flights and increasing their number.

Flights will also start for Muscat

Air India Express will restart flights between Muscat and Mangaluru in Karnataka from July 3. The airline operates around 40 flights weekly from Muscat to seven cities in India. Airlines around the world had limited flights to West Asia. However, now flights are being normalized again.

After 41 years, Canada finally accepted the truth which India has been saying for four decades regarding the bomb blast in Air India Flight 182 (Kanishka blast). On June 23, 1985, Air India Flight 182 was flying on the Montreal-London-New Delhi route when the plane fell into the Atlantic Ocean due to a bomb explosion at an altitude of about 9,400 meters in Irish airspace. A total of 329 people died in this accident.

Canada admitted the truth after 41 years

After this blast, Canada has been celebrating June 23 as National Terrorism Victims Remembrance Day. Permanent monuments are installed in several Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. However, Canada never accepted that Khalistani terrorists had planted a bomb in this plane. Now after 41 years, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has accepted the involvement of Khalistani terrorists in this bomb blast.

Canada’s intelligence agency described the Kanishka bomb blast as a heinous act of terrorism and blamed Canada-based Khalistani terrorists for planting an explosive device in the plane. CSIS posted on Facebook, ‘On National Memorial Day for the Victims of Terrorism, CSIS remembers the 329 people aboard Air India Flight 182 who lost their lives in the heinous terrorist attack.’

Khalistani extremists had planted the bomb: Canada

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service said, ‘On June 23, 1985, a bomb planted by Khalistani extremists based in Canada exploded the plane, killing all people on board. Most of those killed were Canadians. It is the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history and marked a turning point for our national security community. At that time CSIS had been formed for less than a year. For the past four decades, we have been committed to protecting Canadians from politically, religiously and ideologically motivated violence.

India reiterates resolve to fight terrorism

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Air India 182 ‘Kanishka’ bomb blast on Tuesday (23 June 2026) on the 41st anniversary of the incident and said that India reiterates its resolve to deal with all forms of terrorism. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney described the bombing as “the worst attack in Canadian history” and said his country stands against all forms of violent extremism.

Last Monday (22 June 2026) night, due to a technical fault in Air India flight AI-479 going from Delhi to Amritsar, the plane deviated from its planned path and went straight into Pakistan’s airspace. It is said that the pilot came to know about this only after receiving a warning from Pakistan Air Traffic Authority, after which the plane took a U-turn and turned back towards Indian airspace. This incident is not like a normal route deviation because the airspace in which the plane went is completely closed for Indian aircraft at present.

PAK has banned its airspace for Indian aircraft

Pakistan Airports Authority has closed its airspace for all aircraft with Indian registration, whether commercial or military, from April 2025. This ban has been extended every month through NOTAM. This ban was in force on the night the AI-479 went astray and was extended till the morning of June 24. After this, with a new NOTAM issued on June 16, it has been further extended till July 24. This is the reason that as soon as the plane entered Lahore Flight Information Region of Pakistan, the Air Traffic Authority there immediately issued a warning.

Indian plane entered Pakistan border

Relations between India and Pakistan are already tense after the Pahalgam attack. In such a situation, the departure of an Indian aircraft in closed airspace makes the matter serious. However, Amritsar Airport sources say that the plane did not go more than one and a half miles inside the Pakistan border. The plane took off from Delhi at 9:18 pm on Monday night, which was just 3 minutes late from the scheduled time. Landing in Amritsar was to take place at 10.30 pm, but due to a technical glitch midway, the navigation of the plane got disturbed and it crossed the border.

The plane kept circling around Amritsar

The trouble did not end even after returning to Indian airspace. By then the traffic at Amritsar airport had increased due to which the plane was not allowed to land. The plane kept circling around Amritsar for some time, then on the instructions of the control room it was sent back to Delhi where it landed safely. After waiting for about two hours, the plane was again allowed to fly to Amritsar and finally it landed safely at Amritsar airport at around 2.20 am on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday. In this entire process, passengers had to face a delay of about four hours.

Airport officials say that due to runway availability and traffic, it is a normal procedure to make the aircraft wait in the air, but in this case the real reason is said to be technical fault and deviation from the path. At present, the investigation of the matter is going on and it is not clear what was the real reason for the disturbance in the navigation system.

Air India Cheaper Tickets: If you travel by air and want to pay only as much money as you need, then Air India has come up with a new option for you. Air India airline has introduced its new basic fare formula today on 16 June 2026, which is specially designed for those passengers who want to fly domestically at low cost.

What is ‘Basic Fare’?

This is a new and cheapest fare class, which will be available in economy class on domestic routes of Air India. In this, the passenger will get 15 kg check-in baggage and 7 kg cabin baggage, but keep in mind that food and drink i.e. complimentary meal will not be included in this.

alert! Do not take risk to earn money easily, RBI alerted, gave 3 tips to save bank account

What was there before and what has changed now?

Air India was already offering three fare options named Value, Classic and Flex, which started in the year 2024 and all of them included meals. Now Basic Fare has been added as another option below them. This may be cheaper for passengers who do not want to eat separately.

What to do if you need food?

Food can be ordered even after purchasing the basic ticket, but booking will have to be done at least 24 hours before the flight. Veg, non-veg, Jain and diabetic meal options will be available. If the flight is changed and the meal was already booked then it will be transferred to the new flight or the full amount will be refunded.

Where and how to get this ticket?

At present this fare has been started on pilot basis only on some selected domestic routes. It can be booked from Air India website, mobile app, contact center and airport ticket counter. Currently not available on third-party sites.

Daily or monthly? Know which SIP really gives bumper returns? understand math

What does this mean for travelers?

Air India says that this step is to give more freedom to the passengers. This can be a good option for those who want only flight and not other facilities. However, it also has to be seen how cheap this fare is compared to other airlines, because low cost carriers like Indigo and SpiceJet already work on this model.

Air India: Air India is considering launching a new and affordable ticket class for passengers. This scheme can be started on some selected short routes and the fares can be reduced for those passengers who will not take food in the flight. Passengers will be able to travel in flights without paying for onboard meals (food served in flight). However, this proposal is still under consideration and if it is approved, this facility will be available only for domestic passengers.

Passengers can save money by not taking food

According to sources, this idea is being considered from the passengers’ point of view. Passengers who do not want to take food during the journey can choose ‘No Meals’ ticket and pay less than those booking regular tickets. This will also have less impact on the pockets of passengers. Air India already offers different fare categories and the proposed option could become another option for passengers who want to reduce travel expenses.

Will banks and stock markets remain closed today, June 16, know when is the Muharram holiday?

Possibility of starting on selected short routes

According to the information received, if the proposal is approved, the airline may initially offer this option on some selected short domestic routes. Feedback from passengers will play an important role in deciding its future. Based on customer feedback, the airline may either expand the category to more domestic routes or limit its availability.

Meanwhile, the proposed “no-meals” category for international flights is not being considered. Even if this plan is approved, it will be limited to domestic flights only. At present, Air India serves food to all passengers on both domestic and international flights.

Air India flight AI-171, going from Ahmedabad, Gujarat to London, fell on the ground as soon as it took off on June 12, 2025 last year. It has been a year since this accident, but the questions regarding the investigation are still not over. India’s pilot organization Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has now written a letter to the government investigation agency AAIB saying that some figures in the investigation report do not seem correct.

What is the real issue?

Actually, there is an emergency power device in the aircraft, which is called RAT. It is a small turbine, which comes out of the aircraft and provides emergency supply of electricity. It was said in the investigation report that the RAT started working within 4 to 5 seconds of fuel interruption, but when the team of American lawyers conducted the same test on the simulator of Boeing-787, it found that in reality it takes about 18 seconds to work.

Why is this difference important?

FIP says that if the timing of the report is correct, it means that the RAT had come out even before the pilot had touched any switch. Simply put, something went wrong with the plane while it was hitting the runway or even before that. It has also been claimed in the footage of a camera that the RAT was visible outside even before taking off.

There were signs even before this

On this day, Air India Flight AI171, departed Ahmedabad Airport at 13:38 local time on a scheduled service to London Gatwick, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members.

FIP also said that the plane’s computer systems were sending malfunction messages from 7:53 a.m., about 14 minutes before takeoff. These messages related to power system, hydraulics and flight controls are called ACARS. The surviving passenger also said that he had heard a loud noise and the cabin lights had dimmed.

What did FIP demand?

The pilot organization wants AAIB itself to conduct tests on the Boeing-787 simulator and a representative of FIP should also be present there. Also, the complete video of the security camera of Ahmedabad Airport should be given to FIP. Apart from this, it should also be investigated that even though Air India itself had the simulator, why did it not give this information to AAIB?

This letter has also been sent to the Civil Aviation Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and DGCA. However, no official response has yet come from AAIB and Air India on this.

Today has completed one year since the crash of Air India Airlines flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on June 12, 2025. In this plane crash, 241 out of 242 passengers present in the plane and 19 people present on the ground i.e. a total of 260 people lost their lives. The investigation is still going on even after a year to find out the exact reason behind this accident.

At the same time, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the agency investigating the accident, has expressed grief towards the families of those killed in the accident on the completion of one year of the incident and said that the investigation in the matter is still going on.

What information did AAIB give regarding the investigation?

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has officially issued a statement on the completion of one year of the accident. In the statement, AAIB said that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with the rules and international standards. The first report of the accident came on July 12, 2025, in which only the facts were stated.

AAIB Interim Statement on the Progress of Investigation into the Accident Involving Air India Flight AI-171 | “…Over the past year, the investigation team has undertaken an extensive and rigorous examination of all relevant technical, operational, organizational and human… pic.twitter.com/KVVDpLcp1x

The agency said that in the last one year, the investigation team has looked at every aspect in detail. Considerable progress has been made in examining aircraft systems, flight recorder data, engine parts and maintenance records. Experts from across the country and abroad are also helping in this work.

When will the final investigation report of the accident come?

According to the statement, all the evidence is currently being analyzed. Further technical investigation will be conducted where necessary, so that every outcome is based on solid evidence. However, the agency has not given any date on when the final report will come. AAIB has only said that the final report will be released only after the entire investigation work and review required under international rules is completed.

Do not make any speculations until the investigation is completed – AAIB

Appealing to the people and media, AAIB said that the purpose of the investigation is not to blame anyone, but to make air travel more safe. Therefore, speculations should not be made until the investigation is completed. In the end, the agency assured that every aspect of the accident will be investigated with utmost care, so that everyone can have confidence in the results.

Aviation News: There is a war going on between Iran and US since February. The effect of which is being seen in many countries around the world. The situation is such that oil, gas and operational industries are being hit by inflation. Fuel prices are increasing, passenger numbers are decreasing, gas prices are increasing. In this way, this war is having a deep impact on every industry. There is a lot of fighting especially in the aviation industry.

The condition of aviation industry is bad
Aviation industry was performing very well in the last few years, this sector was getting a lot of boom. But due to the Iran war, the pace of this sector has come to a slight halt. These days many domestic and international airlines are going through difficult times. In such a situation, flights of many important airlines are being reduced. At the same time, the number of passengers is also being seen less on many important routes.

Also read: Hormuz Crisis: War flares up again between Iran and America, Hormuz is completely closed, know what effect it will have on your pocket now?

The biggest decline occurred on these routes
Seats at five of the country’s nine busiest airports have decreased in the first quarter of financial year 2027 as compared to last year. According to data from UK aviation analytics company OAG, the biggest decline has occurred on these routes:

There has been a reduction of 3.57 million seats in Hyderabad, due to which the maximum decline of 12% has been recorded.

Seats in Chennai have reached 2.48 million and there has been a decrease of 8%.

A decline of 2-3% was seen in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.

There was no change in Guwahati and Bengaluru.

So there has been an increase of 9.6% in Delhi and 6% in Pune.

Also read: Gold Price: Amid rising prices in India, know in which countries the cheapest gold is available, why there is this difference.

Effect of expensive ATF
Just as the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing across the country, similarly the prices of jet fuel i.e. ATF are also increasing. Due to which the flights have been reduced. Due to increase in fuel prices, flight fares have also been increased. This is also a big reason due to which passengers are avoiding traveling by flight. When the number of passengers is less, then the airlines also have less cost for maintenance, in such a situation there is no option left except canceling the flights.

Let us tell you that according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), between February and June, ATF prices have seen an increase of more than 52% globally. After which it became $146.25 per barrel.

Air India: The country’s two largest airlines – IndiGo and Air India are going to cancel about 250 of their domestic flights daily from June. The reason behind this is the skyrocketing prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF- Jet Fuel) and decline in travel demand. This is putting pressure on the functioning of the airlines.

This reduction in flights is expected to continue from June to August, i.e. even in the summer months. Generally between June and August, the demand for air travel decreases after the summer holidays in schools end. Airlines companies are taking this step to balance this decrease in demand and increased expenditure on fuel. In such a situation, if your flight gets canceled in the meantime, you will be given the option of free date change, alternative route or full refund.

Record jump in jet fuel

Amidst the war between America and Iran and the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the supply of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz has been affected. Due to this, the price of jet fuel (ATF) has increased from Rs 80000 per kilometer to Rs 1 lakh per kilometer in many cities of India. Due to this, fuel has become costlier by about 25% for domestic flights and by almost 100% for international routes.

Which airlines are reducing flights by how much?

Air India is cutting its domestic flights by about 22% during June and July. The airline operates around 500 domestic flights daily, and this cut would mean around 110 fewer flights per day and around 800 less per week.

Similarly, Indigo is also going to cut its domestic flights by 5-7% and international flights by 17%. Including these two, approximately 250 flights will be canceled daily between June and August.
