Amidst the ongoing conflict and tension with America and Israel in West Asia, Iran has officially announced the full program of the funeral of its former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with state honors. The funeral process of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will begin next month on July 4, 2026, and on July 9, 2026, his body will be buried in the Reza Imam Mosque in Iran’s north-eastern city of Mashhad.

The funeral of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is being held on February 28, 2026, more than four months after his death in joint US and Israeli air strikes.

What is the complete schedule of the funeral?

The full official program of Ali Khamenei’s funeral on Saturday (June 13, 2026) has been released by Iran’s Committee for the Commemoration of the Ascension of the Mujahid Martyr Imam. According to which, celebrations lasting five days will be organized in the capital Tehran, Qom and Mashhad.

According to the schedule released by the committee, farewell ceremonies will be organized next month on July 4 and 5, 2026, at the Khomeini Mosque in the country’s capital Tehran. After this, a funeral procession will be taken out in Tehran on 6th July. Then, on July 7, 2026, the funeral procession will be taken out in the holy city of Qom. After this, finally on July 9, 2026, a funeral procession will also be taken out in Mashhad and the body will be buried in the Raza Imam Mosque.

Four members of his family will also be buried along with Khamenei.

During this time, four other members of Khamenei’s family, who were killed along with him in the American-Israeli attack, will also be laid to rest, which include the names of Dr. Misbah al-Huda Bakeri Kani, Sayyida Bushra Husseini Khamenei, Zahra Haddad Adel and Zahra Mohammadi Golpaeghani.

However, the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was originally scheduled for March 4, 2026, but was postponed due to the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
