After the end of voting in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the results of exit polls have also come. Now everyone should know about the final election results on May 4 (Election Results 2026) is awaited which will clear the picture of these states. Whether the results of the exit poll will prove to be right or wrong will be known only on May 4.

West Bengal Exit Poll Result
There is maximum discussion about West Bengal exit poll. There was heavy voting in the last phase. Issues like amendment in voter list, identity politics and strong grassroots mobilization influenced the election. Exit polls are indicating a close contest between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP, and many surveys are indicating the possibility of a hung assembly. If estimates are to be believed, BJP seems to be expanding in the state.

Tamil Nadu Exit Poll Result

In Tamil Nadu, the contest appeared to be less straightforward than in previous elections. Although many exit polls are indicating the DMK-led alliance returning to power, the entry of actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam has changed the established political equations. Some estimates indicate that Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam may also form the government this time. If this happens then the politics of the state will completely change.

Assam, Kerala and Puducherry exit polls

Assam exit polls are predicting a comfortable majority for BJP. There is a close contest in Kerala, where exit polls indicate a slight lead for the Congress-led UDF. The situation looks relatively clear in Puducherry, where the NDA is expected to remain in power comfortably due to fragmented opposition votes and stable support for the current leadership.

EC to monitor situation in Bengal to prevent post-poll violence

The Election Commission has directed the office of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to monitor the situation in West Bengal to prevent post-poll violence. In this regard, the CEO’s office held a virtual meeting with district magistrates and superintendents of police on Thursday. Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Aggarwal gave this message to the officials. After the end of the second and final phase of assembly elections on Wednesday, sporadic political clashes have been reported from different districts of the state. In view of this, a source in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said that the Commission has already

Before the counting of votes in West Bengal, BJP has come into full action mode. Before the counting on May 4, an important strategic meeting of the party has been called in Kolkata on May 2. Those expatriate leaders who were given the responsibility of being in-charge of the assembly and zone in the West Bengal elections have been called to attend this meeting. All these leaders will be given important responsibilities on the day of counting. West Bengal in-charge Sunil Bansal and election in-charge Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav will attend this high-level meeting on behalf of the central leadership.

After voting in West Bengal, most of the exit polls are showing the formation of BJP government. Now BJP’s entire focus is on vote counting. A series of meetings are going on in BJP regarding this. Bengal in-charge Sunil Bansal and Bhupendra Yadav are camping in West Bengal. Immediately after the first voting, on April 30, Sunil Bansal and Bhupendra Yadav held a meeting with prominent party leaders in Kolkata and took the ground report regarding the voting.

After that, on May 1, both the leaders held a meeting with local party leaders and counting agents in Siliguri and informed them about the details of counting of votes at the counting centre. After that, on May 2, the party has called the expatriate leaders on election duty to Kolkata. A meeting will also be held with them and on the day of counting, they will be instructed by the party to stay in their respective areas of charge and keep an eye on the counting of votes.

Also read:- Exit Poll 2026: BJP’s storm in today’s Chanakya exit poll, ‘played’ with Mamata Banerjee in the survey

The focus of this meeting is very clear that there should be no lapse at any level on the counting day. From booth level to counting centre, every arrangement will be reviewed in detail. The final strategy on who will be deployed at which centre, what will be the role of the agents and how monitoring of each round will be ensured will be decided in this meeting. All these leaders will also share ground reports and feedback of their respective areas, so that the ground situation can be accurately assessed.

Also read:- ‘If BJP comes to power in Bengal…’ What did the Bangladeshi MP say about the assembly elections in the Parliament of Bangladesh, created ruckus

In fact, the contest on many seats in Bengal is considered to be very close. On one hand, TMC is claiming to make a comeback on the basis of its welfare schemes, while on the other hand, BJP is claiming its victory, encouraged by the results of its ground reports and exit polls. In such a situation, BJP will keep a close eye on every round, every table and every data on the day of counting. This meeting of May 2 is not just a review of the preparations, but is being considered as the last strategic exercise of BJP for the decisive battle of May 4.

After the second phase of assembly elections in the state, the political atmosphere has heated up even before the counting of votes. Allegations and counter-allegations have intensified between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the process of strong room and postal ballot in Kolkata.

TMC leader Kunal Ghosh alleged that the strong room was opened ahead of time and some people were working inside, information about which was not given to the political parties. He said that his team was present there till morning, but transparency was not maintained regarding the process.

TMC leader Shashi Panja also raised questions on this issue. He claimed that “unknown people are handling the postal ballot” and did not clarify what was going on inside. He also asked that when the strong room was sealed in the presence of the candidates, then on what basis was it opened.

At the same time, controversy also arose over the alleged presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Reports said that she was present in the strong room premises of Sakhawat Memorial School, Kolkata. The opposition raised questions on this. BJP-affiliated lawyer Suryanil Das alleged that it is unconstitutional for a candidate to stay in the strong room premises for a long time.

However, BJP leaders rejected TMC’s allegations outright. BJP candidate from Maniktala Tapas Roy said that all this is ‘just rumour’ and TMC is making such allegations due to fear of defeat. He said that there is a three-level security system in the strong room and nothing is possible without permission.

BJP candidate from Entali, Priyanka Tibrewal also attacked TMC. He said that it was only due to the presence of central forces that peaceful voting was possible in the state and record voting was recorded. He alleged that TMC is trying to influence the election process and is now doing ‘drama’.

The Election Commission of India has taken cognizance of this entire controversy. State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Aggarwal said that information about the matter has been given to the Commission and a report has been sought from the concerned officials.

Kolkata North District Election Officer Smita Pandey clarified that all the processes related to the strong room have been completed as per the rules. He told that after voting the EVMs were sealed in the presence of the candidates and their agents.

He also said that the process over which there is controversy is actually part of the statutory process of separating postal ballots. This work was being done as per the pre-determined schedule and information about it was given to the political parties through email.

Meanwhile, reports of tense atmosphere between BJP supporters and TMC workers have also emerged in different parts of Kolkata. Workers of both the parties are monitoring outside the strong room and are anticipating any kind of disturbance.

The Election Commission and the district administration have appealed to all parties to maintain peace.

After the end of voting in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the results of exit polls have also come. Now everyone is waiting for the final results to come on May 4 which will clear the picture of these states. Whether the results of the exit poll will prove to be right or wrong will be known only on May 4.

west bengal exit poll
There is maximum discussion about West Bengal exit poll. There was heavy voting in the last phase. Issues like amendment in voter list, identity politics and strong grassroots mobilization influenced the election. Exit polls are indicating a close contest between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP, and many surveys are indicating the possibility of a hung assembly. If estimates are to be believed, BJP seems to be expanding in the state.

tamilnadu exit poll

Tamilnadu Exit Poll 2026: In the exit polls of Tamil Nadu, DMK is seen forming the government for the third consecutive time under the leadership of MK Stalin. Obviously, this will work as a lifeline for DMK, because Stalin has been successful in reducing the anti-incumbency that occurs after running the government for 10 consecutive years. And that too when Vijay’s TVK has fought very strongly in this election and its performance has also been excellent.

Despite this, if Stalin seems to be moving towards victory, then in the coming days, he will give more edge to the anti-Hindi, through which he has blunted the BJP in Tamil Nadu.

Also read- West Bengal Exit Poll 2026: Will there be a change of power in Bengal after 15 years? BJP can touch the magic figure of majority

As far as AIADMK is concerned, till now it has not been able to compensate for the rupture in the party after the demise of Jayalalitha. Even after joining BJP, E Palaniswami does not seem to be in a position to get more than 30 seats in Tamil Nadu. Whereas superstar Vijay, who is a newcomer in politics, is not only seen destroying AIADMK’s place by registering a strong presence through his party TVK, but in some exit polls, Vijay is also seen emerging as the largest party.

Axis My India’s estimate is shocking

The data of many exit polls conducted for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026 is pointing towards a major change in the politics of the state. According to the estimates of Axis My India, actor Vijay’s party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) can cause the biggest upset this time, which is expected to get 98 to 120 seats. On the other hand, the ruling DMK seems to be facing a tough fight with 92 to 110 seats, while the AIADMK, the second major force in the state, seems to be limited to just 22 to 32 seats. This performance of Vijay’s party is not only shaking the traditional equations of Dravidian politics, but is also putting him in a position to hand over the keys of power.

Also read- ‘I have been contesting elections since 1984, but this time…’, what did Mamata say about victory in Bengal?

The first statement of Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has come after the exit polls of West Bengal Assembly elections. She posted a video on social media platform X on Thursday (April 30, 2026) evening, in which she is seen claiming TMC’s victory in Bengal. In the caption accompanying the video, he wrote, ‘TMC will be ahead on 230 seats. We are going to form a government of the motherland and the people. Jai Bangla!’

In the video, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘Hello! My greetings, salute, johar and Jai Jiren to the land of Bengal and its people. All of you stay well, stay healthy – we are very grateful to you. Despite so much heat, so many difficulties and atrocities, we are grateful to you for the way you stood in the queue and voted.

We are forming a government of Mother-Soil-Humans.

Jai Bengali! pic.twitter.com/igVP0FlM9G

 — Mamata Banerjee (@MamataOfficial) April 30, 2026

She said, ‘I also wholeheartedly thank our workers, who fought at the risk of their lives, endured atrocities and stood firm despite the combined pressure of the Central Force and the local force. The entire machinery of the Government of India – from the Prime Minister, the Home Minister to the BJP leaders of 19 states – tried to suppress the people of Bengal with the help of money, power and weapons, but the public gave the answer in the vote box.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘I want to assure you that what is being shown on TV is a conspiracy from the BJP office. I have clear information that this narrative has been spread by paying money. The reality is that we can go up to 200-300 seats and will cross 226 in 2026. I have full faith in the public’s decision.

Also read:- Bengal Result 2026: 500 companies of CAPF will remain deployed in Bengal even after the elections are over, CRPF DG gave information.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘BJP used agencies- ED, CBI, Income Tax, misused the Central Force. At many places women, children and workers were tortured. My deepest condolences to the family of the person who went to vote in Udaynarayanpur and was killed – we are with them. He said, ‘Our workers and journalists were also killed at many places. In Bhawanipur and Chakrabediya, even women and children were not spared. Many people were deliberately arrested so that they could not work as agents. The same happened in many areas like Bhatpara, Jagatdal, Noapada.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘I have not slept for two nights. There have been continuous raids, but I want to tell you – this is a conspiracy of BJP. They could not take away the rights of the people, so now they are playing the last game through the media, so that the morale of the people and workers is broken. I want to say clearly – this happened in 2016 and 2021 also. Exit polls were always shown in favor of BJP. Today impartiality has ended in the country.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘I appeal to all the workers and candidates – remain alert till the counting. Every candidate should monitor himself on 294 seats. There should be workers during the day and the candidates themselves should guard at night. If needed, I will guard myself. There is a possibility of disturbance when the EVM machines are taken from the store to the counting hall – so keep a close eye. Be alert from counting table to computer upload, because there may be attempts to make changes there too.

Also read:- Assembly Election Exit Polls: Left lags behind in exit polls! There are signs of loosening of grip in Kerala and Bengal too, know the complete figures

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘If you have to go somewhere, then go only with a trustworthy person – whom no one can buy. This small effort is necessary to protect the people of Bengal and their rights. Everyone remain calm, maintain patience. Have faith in Didi, have faith in the people of Bengal. We will form a government of ‘Maa Mati Manush’ – have this faith. Even if we are attacked, we should not immediately respond with violence. There is no need to take law into one’s hands. We will answer this democratically.

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘I also want to tell the administration – enough is enough. Now hands should not be raised on anyone during counting. Bengal does not belong to external forces – it belongs to the people of Bengal. BJP does not have its own agents, hence central force was used. This is against democracy. The Prime Minister gives statements during elections, but does he know the soil of Bengal, its culture, Rabindranath, Nazrul, Netaji? The truth is that the elections were fought on the basis of lies and propaganda.

Mamta Banerjee finally said, ‘I know that money was distributed – up to Rs 3000 was given, but I believe that the public has taken the right decision. I say with confidence – Long live Maa Mati Manush! Long live Trinamool Congress! Jai Bangla! Bengal will win. Wait till the 4th – everyone will get the public’s answer. Hello! Jai Hind! Jai Bangla!’

After the second and final phase of voting in Bengal on Wednesday (April 29, 2026), all the exit polls came in the evening, in which all except two are expected to form the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. There were only two exit polls in which TMC seems to be coming to power in Bengal once again. Of these, TMC is estimated to get 178 to 189 seats, while according to other exit polls, BJP can cross the majority mark of 148. These exit polls are a big blow for Mamata Banerjee. Although, it will be clear on May 4 who will capture the power in Bengal, but this is the first statement of Mamata Banerjee after the exit poll, which is being considered very important.

Poll Diary’s survey estimates that BJP may come to power for the first time in West Bengal with 142 to 171 seats. According to this survey, Trinamool Congress may have to be satisfied with 99 to 127.

It has been said in the exit matrix that BJP can form the government in West Bengal with 146 to 161 seats and TMC can get 125 to 140 seats and can be out of power. P-Mark has estimated 150 to 175 seats for BJP while TMC is expected to get 118-138 seats.

People’s Pulse survey says that Trinamool Congress can retain its power by securing 177 to 187 seats. At the same time, BJP is expected to get 95 to 110 seats. Congress is expected to get one to three seats. Opinion polls have given TMC between 195 to 205 seats and the vote share is 49.50%. At the same time, BJP has been given 80-90 seats.

Assembly Election 2026 Exit Polls: With the conclusion of the last phase of elections in Bengal, the results are now awaited. On May 4, the results of all the election states, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be revealed. In such a situation, many exit polls have been released after the elections are over. In these polls, approximate figures of the picture of different states have been released. In many of these states, BJP and Congress do not seem to be getting even a single seat.

TVK is unable to open account in three exit polls in Tamil Nadu

Talking about Tamil Nadu, exit polls of five agencies have come out. Among these, Matrize, Chanakaya Strategies, Poll Diary, Praja Poll and India Today-Axis my India have released surveys. Among these, the largest party, Congress-backed DMK, has emerged as the largest party. At the same time, BJP supported AIADMK seems to be slipping from the majority mark. Talking about TVK, TVK does not seem to be getting seats in three of these exit polls. That means she is not even able to open an account. These exit polls include data from Chanakya Strategy, Poll Diary, Praja Poll.

Signs of BJP’s comeback in Assam

Whereas, if we talk about Assam, in these five exit polls BJP and Congress have been given estimated seats. The BJP coalition government is showing signs of making a comeback in Assam.

BJP in Kerala not zero in four exit polls

Talking about the exit polls of Kerala, four exit polls have been released. Here the Congress alliance i.e. UDF is predicted to get majority. The second largest party is the Left alliance, which has been in power for the last 10 years. At the same time, for BJP, Kerala government seems to be a distant dream. Here BJP is not able to open its account in the state in four exit polls. These include surveys of Matrize, Chanakya Strategies, Peoples Pulse, India Today Axis My India.

BJP gets majority in Puducherry

BJP has emerged as the largest party in Puducherry exit poll. However, Congress also seems to have a good number of seats in its account.

Congress is not getting seats in Bengal

If we talk about Bengal, all the polls show BJP government being formed here. Also, in two other exit polls, TMC is predicted to get majority. However, it is estimated that Congress will not be able to open its account in Bengal in this election. In the Praja Poll, others’ accounts have been estimated between 0-5. This means that it seems impossible for Congress to open its account in Bengal.

Also read: Neither DMK+, nor BJP+, Vijay’s TVK is the biggest party in Tamil Nadu, all failed in front of ‘Thalapathy’ in exit polls.

Bengal Assembly Election 2026: This time the elections are not limited to just posters, rallies and security arrangements in the streets of Kolkata. The taste of democracy is also available here – that too with sweetness. While on one hand the security forces are alert, on the other hand the famous sweet shops of the city have given a different color to the elections.

Sweet seller launches ‘Election Special Message’

A leading sweet seller in Kolkata has launched ‘Election Special Sandesh’. This traditional Bengali sweet now seems to be tinged with politics—with the election symbols of TMC, BJP and CPI(M). Every message is not just sweets, but is telling the story of this election environment.

The shop owner says, “Nothing happens in Bengal without sweets, neither revolution nor elections. We want people to celebrate this festival of democracy by eating something sweet.”

#WATCH | West Bengal | Special election-themed Sandesh have been prepared at a sweet shop in Kolkata ahead of the second phase of West Bengal elections scheduled to take place on 29th April; counting to take place on 4th May. pic.twitter.com/VRVZnueSs4

That is, while on one side there is vote politics, on the other side ‘sweet politics’ is also attracting people.

Also read- WB Bengal Elections 2026: Mamata government will come again in Bengal, claims TMC candidate Sujit Bose from Bidhannagar.

High profile election contest is going to be held on 29th April

The second phase of West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 is to be held on April 29, in which voting will be held on 142 seats. This is the same phase where TMC’s strongholds—Kolkata and the surrounding urban industrial areas—are at stake. BJP is trying its best to make a dent here, due to which the contest has become very interesting and thorny.

The record voting of about 93% in the first phase has already indicated that the public is completely active this time. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the second phase. The most high-profile contest is also in this phase—Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying to save her Bhawanipur seat, where she faces opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Also read- Arvind Kejriwal’s first rally after Raghav Chadha’s resignation, targeted at BJP, what did he say about Bengal?

In this election of total 294 seats, this phase is also special because it will decide whether TMC will be able to save its urban fort or BJP will be able to make a big political entry in South Bengal. Interestingly, while on one hand political rhetoric and strategies are at their peak, on the other hand the elections are creating a festive atmosphere among the general public – in which sweets are also playing their role.

These ‘political messages’ from Kolkata have shown that elections in Bengal are not just a game of power but also a part of culture, sentiment and tradition. Now when the votes are cast on April 29, it will be decided in whose favor this ‘sweet taste’ of democracy goes – and for whom it proves bitter.

Bengal Assembly Election 2026: Just before the second phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission has made it clear that this time any kind of irregularities will not be tolerated. Unprecedented security arrangements have been made on 142 seats for the voting to be held on April 29, so that voters can exercise their rights without fear.

Like the first phase, this time too peaceful and fair voting will be ensured at all costs. According to sources, the Commission has given clear instructions that separate deployment should be done in each assembly constituency and ‘area dominance’ should be increased in sensitive areas. That means security forces will not only be present, but will also actively patrol and control the environment.

Under this strategy, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel riding on 160 motorcycles will patrol continuously. There will be two soldiers on each bike, so that immediate response can be given in case of any emergency. Its objective is fast response, strong presence and trust among voters.

Also read- West Bengal Elections 2026: Amit Shah is overjoyed at the bumper voting in Bengal, predicted the seats, told who will be the CM.

CCTV cameras will be installed at every polling station and deployment of central forces will be ensured. Also, no unauthorized person will be allowed to come within 100 meters of the polling station.

Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Aggarwal clearly said, “We have requested everyone to ensure peaceful and normal voting. Fake voting or booth capturing will not be allowed. People should exercise their democratic rights without any fear. Action will be taken against anyone who tries to stop it.”

Why is this face special

This face-off on 142 seats is special because these areas are considered the core strongholds of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led TMC—the urban belt of South Bengal and Kolkata, where the party has long had a strong hold. The record 93% voting in the first phase has clearly indicated that voters are very active this time. This is the reason why the competition has become more intense in the second phase.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the top leadership of BJP are continuously campaigning on these seats. BJP’s strategy is clear – to make a dent in South Bengal, cross the mark of 77 seats in 2021 and strengthen itself in the race for power. The importance of this phase also increases because voting is to be held on many high-profile seats. Most of the attention is on Bhawanipur seat, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has a direct contest with Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari.

Voting on which most important seats

The 142 seats to be voted in the second phase of West Bengal elections cover the most important political areas of the state. These seats are spread across eight electoral districts—Kolkata North, Kolkata South, Howrah, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Hooghly and East Burdwan. This is the reason why this phase is being considered as the ‘nerve center’ of the elections.

If we look at the figures, the dominance of Trinamool Congress (TMC) was clearly visible in these areas in the 2021 elections. Despite aggressive campaigning by BJP, TMC had won 123 out of 142 seats. BJP was reduced to only 18 seats, while Left ally Indian Secular Front (ISF) got one seat. The distribution of seats also shows the importance of this phase. There are 11 seats in Kolkata North and South together, 16 in Howrah, 17 in Nadia, maximum 33 seats in North 24 Parganas, 31 in South 24 Parganas, 18 in Hooghly and 16 in East Burdwan.

The fate of big faces will be decided

The biggest feature of the second phase is that many big and influential faces are in the electoral fray, whose victory or defeat can affect the entire political equation. This phase is especially important for Trinamool Congress (TMC), because many senior leaders of the party are putting their credibility at stake.

Everyone’s eyes are on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s seat, but apart from this, big names like Mayor Firhad Hakim from Kolkata Port, Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya from Dumdum North, Industries Minister Shashi Panja from Shyampukur, Electricity Minister Arup Biswas from Tollygunge, Education Minister Bratya Basu from Dumdum and Minister of State for Fire Sujit Basu from Bidhannagar are also in the fray. The performance of these leaders will decide how strongly TMC is able to defend its urban stronghold.

On the other hand, BJP has also made this phase a battle of prestige. The party has fielded the mother of a junior doctor from Panihati, who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata in October 2024 – a decision that gives an emotional turn to the elections. Apart from this, BJP has fielded former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta from Rashbehari and actress-politician Roopa Ganguly from Sonarpur South, making the contest more interesting.

Battle of Bhawanipur: A battle of prestige, mathematics and pressure

Bhawanipur seat of South Kolkata has become the most high-profile battle of this election. Here Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in direct competition with her former aide and now BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Adhikari is also contesting from Nandigram—the same seat where he defeated Mamata by about 1,900 votes in 2021. This background has made the battle of Bhawanipur more symbolic.

Also read- Exit Poll 2026 Date: First phase ends in West Bengal, voting completed in Assam-Kerala-Tamil Nadu, when will the exit poll come?

This time the equations have changed. After the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Election Commission, names of about 51,000 voters in Bhawanipur have been removed from the list, which is about 21% of the total voters. This cut is being considered a challenge for Mamata Banerjee, especially because her victory margin in the 2021 by-election was around 58,800 votes.

In the last phase of elections, Mamata has intensified her focus on Bhawanipur. She is not only holding regular meetings with party workers, but for the first time she is also conducting a comprehensive campaign at the grassroots level. To attract the large number of non-Bengali voters here, Mamata is reaching out to Jain temples and Sikh Gurudwaras. Also, direct communication is being established with voters living in high-rise societies through closed-door meetings and padyatras.
